Well... Im rather new here at mod db (or really new here Me wrote: Gateway, is a mod that chronicles the more martial goings on at apeture science. The premise of this mod is simple, apeture science is training these "androids" to fight. ("Androids" because theres a bit of a plot twist). The androids are basically robots that are "alive" and are supersoldiers. Theres a short 1 play campaign, but the focus is on the multiplayer. Now onto the actual gameplay. Gateway is a class based shooter much like TF2, But more akin to neotokyo, or something like that. There are 6 classes in all, but only 3 are availible from the get go. First theres light class, which has high speed, but low health, semi-low damage weapons. Its very manueverable and very "customizeable" with many "sidegrades" but more on that later. Medium is the best of both worlds, average movement, average armor, and average health. Medium has its downside: Though it can wield the most versitile weapons in the game, It has a slim amount of "sidegrades". Last is heavy, heavy has an EXTREME amount of armor and health, but its slow, AND its weapons aren't made to hit fast moving targets. There are 2 different teams to be on, team 1 and team 0. All player models look roughly the same, like what would happen if a portal turret grew arms legs and a head then picked up a gun.
Now onto weapons and Sidegrades. First off, all weapons are availble at all time, at least for your specific class. Light can wield a shotgun, nailgun, and revolver type weapon. Medium wields a flamethrower, assault rifle, and tesla rifle. Finally heavy can weild a flak cannon, minigun, and rocketlauncher. Any class can duel wield the weapons of one class below it. Finally, the moment youve been waiting for: Sidegrades. Sidegrades come in 2 varieties, normal side grades, and alt amo. Normal sidegrades modify the player, such as increasing speed at the cost of armor, adding special abilites like wall jump and jetpack, and for a special class Ill talk about in a second, "viruses" or "spells". Alt Ammo effects weapons, and only last one life. On the flipside its cheap, and you can buy it in bulk. You buy sidegrades with credits earned by: Kill Streaks, Kills, Objectives, and Mini-Achievements. Mini-Achievements are earned by completing achievements that reset themselves every round, and are fairly simple to get. Last but not least, the "Special" classes. Special classes can be bought in the store, and are limited to 1 or 2 per team. The three special classes are mechanic hacker and marksman. Marksman is simple, he shoots things, from a distance. Mechanic is more complex, he acts like a medic mixed with the engineer. He can heal teammates, and get "energy" by harvesting it from the fallen. He can use "energy" to hack turrets, control doors, and turn team-mates into "juggernauts". The hacker class can use "viruses" on people, which have a range of effects, from loss of communication, to a full loss of control. Ohyeah, there will be 2 (maybe 3) gamemodes, Capture the orb, Attrition, and a secret gamemode. ( OK... Is anyone interested in joining the team? (I hope this is the right section for this kind of thread) |

I know that you said you don't have anything impressive to show off, but you really should post something. Concept art is great! Because, for all we know you may have not even done anything to the mod besides come up with that idea. -- Founder - Grand-Games |
