I Wanna know how many of you are getting modern warfare 2 and if so what are your opinions on the game depending on what you've seen so far

I am still getting the game. Sure, the game doesn't allow mods but to be completely honest I never liked playing any of the CoD mods. Also, while the no dedicated server support is not a good choice for them in my opinion, I buy the CoD games just for the Singleplayer so it wouldn't effect me.

I am not getting it for PC because, only 9 v 9 multiplayer and the dedicated server crap.

It seems that I have been misinformed. Thank you for enlightening me.

I'm going to revise my last statement: Not getting it. Until it is $20 or something.

Dear lord.

Ninety bucks on Steam.

I was hoping they were kidding.

Is there anything stopping me from paying around ten extra to get the boxed copy?

Personally I don't plan on padding Bobby Kotick's bonus.

Good game design is about copying what works and maybe taking a few chances on your own.

In their recent online chat (with Best-buy customers, I believe), they were asked twice. The first time they dodged the question; the second time they said they played local games just fine - through IWNet (i.e, not LAN).

Mackey-IW: We can play at work on our lan by doing private match and there is no lag.

Sounds like lan to me?

'Private Match' requires IWNet!

sooo...they connect in "LAN" across IWNet right...IWNet is a online only service....called Internet Play in my book :/

EDIT: just read it on a dutch game site -> ID's Rage will allso have no dedicated servers :/

/Groan.

Looks like it's Activision pulling those strings then.

indeed
still don't get why tho :/ IWNet, like any other online service, can go down, that means no MP
if a dedicated server crashes, well it sucks, but there are thousands of others
that alone should be a reason not to continue this :/
a service like IWNet on consoles is no problem, i understand it for those, but not for PC :/

Still sounds like it will allow me to connect to a private game with my coworkers (and with a faster connection as a result of the network), which is all I require from LAN games.

I plan on getting it when I can but not in the near future...

Absolutely not buying it here. And Cryid, not everyone who plays games on a LAN also has internet, so IOW its not LAN, its a private internet match.

hmm...afaik there is no cross platform platform play
but as stated many times, were talking about the PC version here :) its pretty normal for a console game having no user dedicated servers (heh actualy, its allways like that :p)

Pssst, not always ;)

UT3 has dedicated server support on the Ps3, as an example.
