Well, I've been thinking; since Blizzard modified their warcraft 3 engine (heavily) in order to create World of Warcraft, do you guys think it would be possible for a small group (or perhaps a dedicated group) of people to create something similar? Blizzard allows modifications to create custom content but can it go as far as creating your own game? Will they send a C&D? Or perhaps have you join the Blizzard team? I wonder if it is even possible to get as far as Blizzard did in editing the Warcraft 3 engine. What are your thoughts on this? Edited by: Toyoka |

Hm, quite a bummer :\ If only there was some way to be able to modify the engine (legally) Edited by: Toyoka |

Heh, there are projects such as Warsoc and the JNGP that have extended functionality to WC3 World Editor (there are even files out there that allow you to enable Bloom/HDR effects in-game), but no one has been able to mod the actual engine, as that would require access to the source code. I highly doubt Blizzard will ever release the source for the Wc3 engine. |
