Mod reviews section? (Forums : Support : Mod reviews section?) Locked

Hi to all admins and regulars at modDB.

Sorry for my first post to be a request, but I was going to post a review for a popular hl2 mod and noticed there is no real fitting place for it from forum users like myself. Could we have a review section please? Or should I just use the pimpage and posting section? I feel it warrants it's own section, but I understand if you would rather keep things streamlined.

Great work on this site all of you, thanks for making it possible and supporting all our little mod teams.

I'll bring up the possibility of such a section, but , for now, your best bet is the Mod Discussion section.

I think the Mod Discussion section is best. Very few users actually write reviews, and a section as such would A) be underused, and B) possibly undermine ModDB's own reviews.

Undermine? I disagree dude. I think it's always good to have more then one perspective of a mod, after all reviews are always just someones opinion. Don't get me wrong I think most moddb reviews are well written, but I still want my say and see others opinions on the more popular mods. I think it would be fun and interesting.

Hell the mod I worked on got flamed my the moddb review and a section like this might encourage more of that lol, but I still think it's a good idea as we can learn from it and offer our own opinions. I think a section would encourage people to write reviews and discuss things like this.

Just my 2 cents, for now I'll use the Mod Discussion section as advised. Thanks for reading!

Additionaly, I can't reveal much, but we have plans to implement a user review system in the future.

If you'd be interested in writing stuff as part of the staff, shoot me an email or private message. I'm always looking for recruits willing to work.

I had the same idea and I came to post it, I see that others had the same idea too.

I think that is needed a Mod reviews section as an impartial opinion about if the mod is good or not, then as commercial games sites the users could do the "readers review" to give more points of view.

This is important because most of the gamers play mods about the games they have but is hard to use mods of games that you haven't and it will be great to know about mods of other games. People is missing mods of other platforms they haven't, as an example I have never played "Enemy Terriroty" at RTCW because I don't have the game, but I would like to read a review and now how the gameplay is, this mod is famous and I can find information about it, but if the mod is of a non famous game how could I notice this mod exist?

How could you have an Idea about how is a mod if you can't play it? well you don't have the game but you can read a review about the mod at mod database.

I think that is needed.

Until the Mod reviews section is not started yet, maybe a solution could be to post the reviews at the news in the mod profile only.

You can post comments and a score ranking for the game within the mod's profile.

Otherwise, as I told Jon_M, I'm always looking for new recruits to write for the site.
