Hello Community,

I wonna start with Programming a New Game, it will be a mix of Terraria and Minecraft.
I need some Ideas and suggestions for it.
As Name i have choosen "Yourcraft", but since it has been already used for a Minecraft Clone Game Made in GameMaker, i have to use a New Name.
So i am open to Name suggestions.
The Engine will be Custom Build with .NET Framework Language Based on GDI+
It will be a Side Scroller Game in 2D Graphic.

I am open to Ideas for Features, or maybe People who wonna help.

I have an idea:
Don't make a Minecraft clone - make something original.

I dont wonna completely copy Minecraft, but it will be a mix of both Minecraft and Terraria.
But there will be Features like the Block Engine, Crafting etc

Also i need some Suggestions for cool Name, maybe Story etc...
In next Time i gonna start creating the Engine.
Also the Game will be modify-able, it will comes with Mod Tools to create new Maps, Animations, Items, Characters...
I will implent a Special Script Engine for it.
Also Add-ons can be build to add new Elements to it.

I dont want to be harsh, but I really wouldnt suggest making a minecraft clone, make something original! (im a bit tired of seeing minecraft clones, just too much!)
And youll get lots of haters (Just go to any minecraft clone game youtube video and read the comments)
And if you are just starting with programming try something simple at first..

I am thinking about it, i dont know what else i should make, a Game mixed off Minecraft and Terraria was the best Idea i had, and i also really like Minecraft.
And i would love to have my own Game like MC.

Think of a fun concept..or dont think about it at all, and then the idea will hit you when least expected (atleast that works for me when im in need of an idea)
Good luck!

I really don't know why every "Minecraft-Clone" must have an "craft" in his name...
Just think what your game is going to be about... Search for Keywords. From this Keywords it is easier to create a Name.

To be honest, there are not so much Successfull 2D Minecraft Styled Games/Clones of the Market. The only game i can think about is Terraria (which isnt a Ripoff of Minecraft...) Most people are saying that Minecraft Games are overflooding the Market because there are TONS of Minecraft "Fangames" (which mostly have an "craft" in the Name) which are buggy, not finished and not commercial distributet.

The fact is, that 2D Offers some Gameplayelements which are difficult to make in 3D. So if everyone is going to make an really Good 2D Game (similar to Minecraft) with interesting/creative Graphics and new Gameplaymechanics, he might be successfull. ;)

I personaly don't know a good Minecraft-Styled 2D Game (besides Terraria.)

Me too. ;)
But you know that there is a lot of work behind such a game. Don't expect something big at the beginning.
