I need to make a twisted tree for a paranormal mod we're doing and is the first model I want to make. I don't know how to curve an object that well. I just need help curving and stuff |

Probably a few cylinders, apply a lattice to them, and twist that lattice as needed (then manually adjust the ends so they branch off). |

The way I'd do it is create the tree (just a basic tree); offset it from 0,0,0; then select everything from the start of the twist up and rotate around the global origin a little; now select a little less each time and keep rotating. You probably need to do a local rotation of the part to be bent prior to global so you don't get a segmented twist*. * = (half assed ascii representation) __/-- -- 1.7ghz P4

XSI Mod tools, I'm really new.... so whats a lattice o.o I also want to add a jigglebone to the branches so it sways individually in wind and explosions. Edited by: Vengful_Soldier |

there's tree generators out there. This one costs $$ but looks decent: Treegenerator.com EDIT: free blender tree generator: Geocities.com Edited by: TheHappyFriar |

A lattice is a control object that surrounds the model like a cage. It works similar to the warp tool in photosho, move the points on the lattice, and the object will warp to match it. Its useful for using low resolution objects to control the shape of high resolution meshes (among other things), and like most things it is non-destructive until frozen. As for your tree, start by getting reference. I didn't, so the best I could come up with is a stereotypical one:

Dude that was freaking awesome o.o, however....I guess i should have described it better, by twisted I mean, the base structure bends over and the branches bend with it, like strong winds or energy of pull the tree down into a cyclone bush/tree offspring. |

Put a lattice on that and use it to bend the thing over? It really all depends on the design, which is why having concept art and other reference is always important. |

I do have that, infact the entire thing is designed off a haunted forest in Romania where the trees become more pulled down and sucken as they get closer to this circle of "no life" in the middle of the forest, its really creepy but awesome :3 |
