Looking for UV Texturer Thread

I'm in need of some help with some models that I wish to add textures to now and in the future. Although I would do this myself, the issue is that when I seek for a tutorial to apply images or edited textures, If I can convert it to a editable state for image editors, none of the tutorials are up to date and the programs I have that are meant to do 3D and UV Mapping refer to other out of date tutorials or they're own are out of date as well. Those that aren't, following the instructions to the letter, however the texture doesn't line up and continuously alters without a prompt. Reinstalled, checked files, nothing wrong with the program nor with the process in which I did the UV mapping with images. I have done of cutting along marked edges and then that's it. I'm trying to get models textured and into Discovery Mod. I'm attempting to make a line of ships for it that hasn't been done. If anyone is willing to do this for me, I would be grateful.
