Looking For Suggestions - Engines Thread

I am very new to these forums but not to game making.

I am looking for suggestions for a 2D/3D engine that also has the ability to be modular.

The AI is vitally important on 2 differing levels.

Was just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent engine that can handle this? Also has to be cross platform.

I am working on 2 game designs, but both will require decent 2D and 3D as well as the ability to build in a very good modular AI.

Any ideas welcome!

Unity is one that does 2d and 3d and is designed to build virtually any game. Don't know about AI (I'm sure you can script it your self) But there is built in ai pathfinding.

I am using unity currently and found it quite powerful and also has very good documentation for scripting.
