Hey everyone,

I have loads of pieces of music written by me uploaded on my profile, and I was hoping to get some feedback :)

Moddb.com

The tracks up are of various qualities; some are recordings, some use vsts, and others use crap midi. The feedback I'm looking for is more about the composition of the piece, not the quality of the instruments playing it. Although, that being said you're still welcome to comment on that if you wish ;) Also, if a track seems a bit unfinished that's because it is! There are quite a few demos as well as full songs.

If you like or dislike anything please tell me why.

Anyone that can be bothered listening to all that, is greatly appreciated. It's reasonably diverse, so it's not like 30 minutes of the same thing. There's Jazz, Metal, Ambient, Soft Rock, Orchestral, Industrial, just off the top of my head.

Thanks.

Cheers for listening :) I forgot I made this thread haha.

It is too bad I don't have the means to make better quality versions of the pieces I have up now.

yes, there's a couple of 'ambient' type tracks somewhere deeper in my video section ;) Try 'Dystopian Future' or 'Reactor Ambience'. Unless you meant something else?

It's not something I've done before, but I reckon I could.

Hey,

Here's my feedback:

Event Horizon- I like the initial mood however I feel that for a piece at this tempo something that could mark more time would be helpful. There's an awful lot of dead space (with just the drone holding). Also after my first listen I don't come away with a "hum-able" theme. What I mean here is this piece doesn't stick with me after I'm through listening to it. Now, it could work for a cinematic where the intention is to create a mood but not give too strong of a musical impression. (I'm thinking of some of the cut scenes from the Silent Hill 2 title, particularly where you meet Angela in the cemetery.) I think you need to figure out what you want from this piece- what you're intentions are. If you're wanting something that haunts the listener for a while after turning off the stereo then I don't feel you've accomplished that just yet. I'd also invest in some higher quality samples, it will take your music to the next level!

Urgent- I like what I hear so far (about 30 seconds in) but the mix is muddy and needs tweaking. Again better samples will help the audio "presentation" of your piece greatly. Also do you ever tweak the velocity settings in your pieces? This could also help in adding an organic or human-like element to your piece. The ending was a bit sudden, maybe write some more? Overall I find this piece to be stronger than Event Horizon.

Thanks for sharing!

Nate
