"Starsiege: Tribes (usually called Tribes or Tribes 1) is a sci-fi first-person shooter (FPS) computer game. It is the first of the Tribes video game series and follows the story from Earthsiege and Starsiege. It was developed by Dynamix and published by the company now known as Sierra Entertainment in 1998. Tribes was one of the first online-only games of its kind and sported several multiplayer features that other games have only recently included (32+ player support, 128 players max, troop transport vehicles, several different player classes). Most of the standard maps were outdoors in a variety of climates, from sunshine to snow and hail. In general, bases were scattered throughout the map depending on the gametype. The outdoor environments were and still are relatively huge, extending for several kilometers in any direction, but "jetting" and "skiing" gave Tribes a fast-paced feel. On July 16, 2007, Sierra Entertainment announced that they would cease online support of Tribes starting on August 16th, 2007. However, the master server was still active after this date. As of November 2007, the Sierra Master Server is no longer active. However the community has created their own. A Tribes installer is available Here that includes the game, all of the patches, and the updated Master Server." To Install: Dynamix IRC got taken down so the Tribes Community are using irc.tribalwar.com (Port: 6667) As for the Master Server Issue: Read this: |

UFO2000, a partially stand-alone free game inspired by X-COM: UFO Defence (or UFO: Enemy Unknown in Europe) its multiplayer only and it has loads of custom content. if you have the game files for X-COM or X-COM: Terror from the Deep, you can use them in the game. the only bad thing is that it is often hard to find someone to play with if you don't plan ahead. -- leilei wrote:it might sound vapor by now but it ain't dead. Stumbled across this while looking at Wiki's freeware article. It looks like the bastard child of Tribes and Crysis, but I have yet to play it. I'll get around to editing this post to make it more fanciful and whatnot. Also, as promised... 1 game I would like to add to the list: Starpeace Online: In Starpeace Online you have to manage a company. You start out with $100.000.000 and have to start a profitable company with that amount. You can research industries, services, commerces and other things. You need to level up, because not everything is available right from the beginning. This game is pretty detailed gameplay-wise, and will keep you busy for some time. It has low graphics quality though. Site: Starpeaceonline.com Check out the site of you want to know more! Hrm, apparently Gore is free to download and play as of July 4th. Never played the game personally, but it might be worth a look. According to the wiki article, the version that was released was amped up by the developers. I'll give it a check later. -- <[[iframe]] src="http://gamercard.xbox.com/fallout81.card" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" height="140" width="204"> |

Ever heard of almighty DWARF FORTRESS? People who play it say it's brilliant if you manage to learn to play it. And probably fortressfulls of dwarves will die before you finally get it right. Supposedly it has a long and steep learning curve. Watch out for giant ants who think of dwarves as quick snack. This will help ya: Dwarffortresswiki.net And this game will probably be loved by oldschool gamers. *hint-hint* *nudge-nudge* *lei* *lei* Edited by: Whizzard |
