Lame mods. | Locked | |

Obviously I can't be one to ultimately judge all mods, but I think moddb should increase the criteria for posting a mod... Half of these ideas and mods get no farther than concept art and a vague idea. One example I saw recently was the Black & White Life... I mean, c'mon. You're going to let a 'team' of people post a mod here about Half-Life that has been changed so that it's black and white? You might as well call it Cow-Life... Might just be me, but I think Moddb should come up with some way to filter some of these mods, maybe by requiring actual media instead of just a site and an idea, otherwise this site may just become the freely available laughing stock of mod sites. --

hey man if you don't like black and white life shut up, i mean i don't think its a bright idea neither, but they are working probably hard on it and don't mock of the team's work, but you are right in some things, there are mods that don't pass the concept... -- **wearing a christmas hat since xmas 2004 ** ThAt'S ThE sPiRiT! new e-mail addy, check profile |

I just don't see why you want EVERY MOD ATTEMPT ever on your site... some of these mods aren't even mods, they're people looking to get recognition on an idea they have... most of them just post their mod idea, and ask for all of the people to do the work for them... I have considered making a mod myself, but I'd never post it on a site like this without actually getting something done, or planning to get something done, with a knowledgable team to back up my idea. Here is a good example: Moddb.com - Edited By Doofus On Thu 4th, Sep 2003 @ 1:20:40am --

because people b*tch and moan, but i certainly agree the state of mods on this site is just ridiculous. firstly a few categories for mods could be made, i.e. highly unlikely to reach release etc... however this sorta thing cannot be automated. in v2.0 i will instate a few people as 'mod authors' that suspend inactive mods from the site to clean things up a little. that i was hoping would be a solution to this problem. -- Scott Reismanis |

See when you goto register a mod (i havent done so yet) you should or maybe you have done make it say "You should check up on your mod at least once a month if not it may result in delation" something along that lines wait thats exactly what T-Ronx said - Edited By cHIs-wK On Thu 4th, Sep 2003 @ 1:40:40pm -- Nothing. |

when u say inactive mods... does that count towards mods already released?? What I mean is that with some mods released, if there is no updates, its usually cause the mod is finished. But moddb keeps the mod alive. Like with our mod EBFP ... with ours we don't update every month.. cause there really isn't much to update. ICESSJ --

well i think updating every month is kinda crazy because not everyone has something to post every single month...mods arent the fastest moving things on the earth... -- Grammar is my worst enemy along with flying chairs.

no there will never be a system whereby a mod is deleted if it is inactive, unless it is 6 months or their website does not work, something like that. -- Scott Reismanis |

use the UAS to automate it. If a mod goes 3 months with no updates (providing it is not 100% complete and released) then it enters UAS for a review, where an admin can do as they will. After 6 months it goes higher into UAS (perhaps to a higher admin) who can again do as they will. After 1 year inactive it is marked as suspended automatically. UAS is the Unified Admin System, the bit which lets you grab the first available person to deal with your problem (my name, dunno what INtense! wants to call it) |
