Lack of Loyalty | Locked | |

Today it seems all sports stars seem to flock to the best price, rarely do they stay loyal to one team. One example is the amount of Holden drivers being bought by Ford in the V8 Supercars. Jason Bright, Craig Lowndes, Russel Ingall, Jason Bargwana. I mean this is one sport which i thought there would be serious loyalty(Holden Vs Ford). In the rugby league this year lots of players changed teams as well. The big standout was Sonny Bill Williams a player who decided to stay loyal. I mean he was a standout because he stayed loyal. I am just annoyed that sports-star's dont show a bit more loyalty to their team. The afl seems to be the only code which still has some sort of team loyalty. For the record I am a Holden fan (what self respecting aussie isnt) and a Bulldogs(NRL) fan. --

haha amen, some of that fucked up funk stuff they did was great but now, pah... but think about it, for these stars its not a hobby its a job. if you were offered more money by someone else to do the same job youd almost defintley move |

Yeah i guess that is true but i thought that some sports bred some sort of loyalty to the club. People respect players who stay put far more than those who go to the highest price --

Sports sort of goes beyond both a career and a team, the athletes are often vastly over-paid and there is a lack of emphasis on teams via the leagues. Getting a person to stay loyal to a failing group is difficult, and because people think of it as a career and not the fact that you're being paid to play a game (granted it is alot of time and effort into it, it is not a job) the money makes them follow. In the end, everyone will just end up watching their favorite player who sold out and their favorite team they left, it only helps the league sell advertising. Personally, I enjoy playing with the same people, did in hockey and do in video games, our hockey team lost a bit and I had gotten some questions to move, wasn't like I was stuck there, and I get asked all the time to join a more active and actually ranked clan, but, it just isn't for me, could care less how well we do when I have a better or at least more manageable time with failure or less than success. |
