To me, personally, I will be enjoying Killzone 2 long after Resident Evil 5 simply due to the fact of the amazingly deep multiplayer that a lot of reviewers are praising. For Resident Evil 5, it is simply coop multiplayer. Killzone 2 will not have this feature, but instead be class-based, with 6 base classes that you can customize in a large variety of ways to create your own unique player. You can play with up to 32 players total, with the ability to start clans with up to 64 players.
If you liked Resident Evil 4, I am sure you will enjoy RE5, but don't expect quite as big as a leap. Both are pretty good buys, but I just feel that Killzone 2 will last a lot longer.

I would assume that at least one, if not both, would get a demo on PSN - if you can connect your console into your internet. A useful advantage of the PS3 is having free internet so to get demos without buying a magazine for it. I might be wrong, but I believe a Resident Evil 5 demo is out on the PSN now. For games you are on the fence with, getting the demo or as someone above said, renting is the best way to get a feel for which one you want.

Why play either when you can get Flower for a fraction of the cost?

i would say get neither
RE5 isnt good, played it for 5 mins and never touched it again
its pretty boring, it aint resident evil anymore
now there isnt anything wrong with changes but this went to far
KZ2 is the most overhyped game ever
every element in the game has been done before only now they are "new" and "revolutionairy"
every review has 1 thing in common: the controlls suck (both in the controll scheme as in the sensitivity)
and the deep multiplayer? cod4 and 5 have it, its only not class based
Quote:advantage of the PS3 is having free internet
only half true, xbox silver is free and allows you to download demos to

Uh, I'm going to go ahead and assume that you played the first 5 minutes of RE5. You're incredibly stupid and wrong, because the first 5 minutes are just cinematics and some walking action. The gameplay reminds me of RE4, which is fantastic.
I personally loved RE5, and I'm about to play Killzone 2
So, if possible, to answer your question, I'd get both.

I usually agree with you, but not this time. I tried today and I must admit that is extremely funny, good-looking and fast shooter. It have a "I-don't-know-what" that makes you feel inside the game and enjoy every single second of it!

Killzone 2. I've loved the RE series since I was little, but RE5 was just plain meh. The game wasn't scary one bit and the story was lacking. I don't hate it, I think that it could have been better.
So go for KZ2.

You know the Resident Evil series stopped being scary after RE4's release, right? I wouldn't be looking for that in future games, unless they do go back to the fixed camera gameplay, THEN look for the scare factor.

I realize that. The series along with Devil May Cry needs some more fixing. Infact, if I see more of the same. I can give up the Resident Evil and Devil May Cry series.
