Nelsoncarmo26 Still trying to figure out what's this for?!

Just a list of Games I would like to see a Remake using recent engines.

I bought UT3, to make mods to recreate all the games that I like personally.
But my computer does not have enough components to run the game, it allways freezes and brings the computer to a complete stop.
But these are just theories, just wishfull thinking.
I don't know if it's possible, or even worth the time... well, to me it would be worth if i could do it all my self.
But I can't, no where near...

Anyway, so my first question is:
Are there any other games that have mod making tools suitable for a:
Windows xp
512 MB Ram
Nvidia Geforce 8400 GS

Here are the games I would like to see recreated:

Dino Crisis 1
Resident Evil 2
Soul Reaver 1
Metal Gear Solid 1

First of all, your rig is too weak. A 5 years old system would at least have 1gb ram, not taking your CPU into consideration, you ram and video card is already way below minimum requirement to run UT3. I suggest a boost to HD 4850 and 2gb ram should make UT3 run without much problem. Hopefully your CPU isnt too far below either.

To your list of games, I would try the game with fix camera because they are easy to do but I wouldn't use UT3 to do them. Seeing you as a Writer it will be hard to start this project of yours.

Ho, ok...
So first things first.
Upgrade my computer to a 2Gig Ram, an HD 4850 Graphycs Card.

Then, what program would you say I should use?
I don't know what FIX CAMERA is.

...and I noticed that Minuit agreed with 3 of the games on the list.

I really would like to recreate Dino Crisis.

Anyway, I'll get on with it.

The night time's just a jungle dark and a barking M16.
What's this rash that comes and goes can you tell me what it means?
God help me, I was only 19.

Well you can still work with your current rig but your rig will stress over a lot of modern engine for your remake. And my suggestion is just like it said, suggestion. But the graphic card is cheap and so is the ram assuming it is ddr2 or lower, mostly wont cost you more than 150 dollars.  You probably should do some research on getting a new rig too.

Fix camera is where the camera is fix at an angle where the player can view the scene. And once the player moves to the edge of the scene the camera will shift to another camera. Imagine a security camera that is fixed and cannot zoom in or out. And you are the security guard looking at the hundreds of screens at once.

MGS will be hard for remake because the sight and sound detection for the AI will be tough to code. But every game or mod got their hard part.

512MB wouldn't cut it for production. Get 2GB.

Twin Snakes for MGS.

i wouldn't say the current rig is to weak, modern games require to much.  You could mod Doom 3 on that right no problem, or HL2 or UT 2k4.  But ram's CHEAP so get as much as your MB+OS allows imho.

Twin Snakes never happened. It's been permanently erased from my memory forever. Or rather, repressed.

Well i dont know much about the unrealtournament 3 engine, i only test it in MirrorEdge, and i saw videos etc... for any of that games you need like said NelsonCarmo, fix the camera!
I think that the most compatible option for a remake is the SoulReaver, because the camara is more free, if i my memory doesnt fail you had free aim system, for all the other you need to create an autoaim system, also inventorys, in MetalGear the game is like stealth but unreal3 engine is like kill them all! then had thinks like footsteps, neckbreaker, hard stuff i think!

Ho, I see what you mean now with fixed camera.
I thought it was some sort of program to mod games. :P

Since i can't use UT3 on my computer, that now is out of the question.
So right now i am researching other ways to make those remakes.
The closest one I thing it's renegade, but then again why bother making a remake of a game with graphycs just as bad as they were for resident evil as such.
That would be a waste of time.

Does HL2 come with moding tools?

The other option would be to use GTA SA.
That one works fine on my computer, except for the sound, I have to reduce to basic accelaration... for some strange reason the sound does not play well on my machine, unless I reduce the Sound accelaration.

Which brings me to another idea to create a full convertion mod using GTA SA.

I can download SA ultimate editor again and make reskins, like converting CJ into Leon, and most people into zombies, and some other people into other survivors, also download mission builder and create missions.
The rules aren't that difficult to do either, just place a rule that there would be no mobile cars, only the wrecked ones.

We could convert SA into Racoon city.
Reskin most people into zombies.
Use the cheat permanentelly that everybody attacks CJ... with some exceptions, because we need other survivors.

What do you think guys?
Shall we take on this project?

Are you serious?

I think you should first read up on modding and the game engines you are about to use.
You can use the Internet without exploding your pc right?

dude, you may want to actually consider getting some more ram, its dirt cheap these days you could probably at least get that up to 1GB without it costing much. You'll probably find games work a heap load better. Its strange because your graphics card isn't that old either.. seems like you've neglected your ram a bit. I have a feeling this is why UT3 is crashing on your PC as a GF8400GS is more than enough.

Thanks very much for the advice, I will do that right now.

Thing is, is I don't know what Ram card to get for my HP pavillion.
If I open it up and look at the slot, still don't know if it's 200 pins, or 220 pins or what?

What ram card do I get?
