Blatantly duplicate files - come on authing folks Also, one, if not both of the tracks is copyrighted and used without permission. This is a good example of why I advocated against a 'music player' of sorts. If you ever notice this stuff hit me on msn, so i can confirm it, and remove it. -- TKAzA |

Unauthorised mods and groups can post news which appears on the front page - this shouldn't happen |

I noticed this already in the beta but the remark got dumped. Not sure but somebody said it's meant to be like this. WTF?! |

I've noticed some odd markings down in the votes system that look like bugs. Someone in my blog was given -1 for asking a question and giving general praise, and someone in the ModDB Oldtimers group got -1 for asking a question too. Either that or it's random malicious voting? |

Like I said, it's either malicious voting, or a bug. Unless someone would care to explain what the markings down are for? This is the third or fourth time I've seen it happening. |

Anyone can down vote anyone's post - but it takes 2 people to bury a post. Active tracking of malicious voters is something we are working on. -- Greg Macsok |

I get the feeling someone has a beef with me. This is probably why there should never have been a 'voting' system in the first place. |

Yeah, I think so too. I noticed that my influence value for example dropped suddenly from over 90% down to 50%... for doing nothing |

The forums seem to be reverting back to V3 appearance - is there any way to change a signature? |

I dunno whether the Influence/Karma is still bugged or whatever, because after a few haters when I posted my opinion in the Black Mesa news post, mine plummeted to 1% Karma and 63% negative influence. Amazing how you can add a tonne of content, write a popular article, link a bunch of stuff, auth tutorials and groups and everything... yet a couple of people dislike what you say and suddenly you're the ass and of the community. Quote:Anyone can down vote anyone's post - but it takes 2 people to bury a post.
2 votes is ridiculous to bury a post. The comment system still needs massive changes before its actually decent... burying something shouldn't be so easy, comments should be able to be reported, deleted and modified etc. In a community full of idiots who can't take a bit of negativity, anyone can get screwed over so easily. The new forums haven't been coded yet. Its not 'reverting', its intentionally that way so there still are forums. Theres currently no way to change signatures for the forums |

A lot of the comment system is based on statistics taken from the site as a whole, and we're still fine tuning all the algorithms used as we see how it behaves. We keep track of all the activity though, so if we make sweeping changes (Like tweak comment burying to take into account user influence) then it'll all re-assert itself properly. -- jacksonj04 the community manager |

Is there a reset planed by the way? Simply asking since the system has been already misused so much that representative figures are impossible to obtain for a very long time. |

It'll be reset then have all the activity retroactively re-applied with the new rules. High/low points will still be there, but will be weighted as though the system had been running from day one. I think. -- jacksonj04 the community manager |

because it isnt about omitting information dude, its a free network that allows you to get publicity. Not one you can use to shape peoples comments into something that gives people a false understanding of your mod |

Yeah, I think disallowing team leaders the privs to delete comments is a good move. Many, many leaders would use it just to delete negative posts and it can really end up in a serious shitfight. AFAIK, there are plans to implement reporting functionality, so if you have a problem with someones comment, you can report it and it will be reviewed by a Moderator. |

but how will you know what they say if the post has been buried? Reports work well, maybe that could also effect karma. |

If enough people report a comment (It's worked out based on karma, activity, the comment's score etc) then we get a flag up to review it for deletion. However, other comments are only moderated by the score system. If a post is buried it's been rated as -1 or below by the community, which basically keeps the comments which the community think are 'good' in view and the 'bad' ones being squished. -- jacksonj04 the community manager |
