Insane Asylum Mod | Locked | |

Had the idea of doing a mod centered around an insane asylum. There could be several maps made if its UT2K4 or one big map for HL2. With an asylum, there could be holding cells, surgery rooms, tunnels, kitchens, torture chambers, parlour rooms, a lake, grounds, watch towers, and offices. One of the cool things you could do would be to make the doors of the various halls lockable so that the map changed as you played it. You could do this by putting one-use keys as items in the game (running away you could lock someone out, or trapping someone by locking them in)...or make a remote security room that controlled all the doors. If it were a CounterStrike type mod, the terrorists could be orderlies saving doctors from the patients. And the patients could be bent on bombing the power generator to kill themselves. Think anyone would be interested in doing a mod like this? I can model. --

Check out a lot of the WICKED source material I found! Virtual Tour of an Insane Asylum Photo tour of another asylum - very artistic I had an idea where you could program bots to only be in certain rooms...rooms that werent delapidated...but were dressed in the 1910s...so that it was like when you stepped into the room you were warping back in time! They would attack anyone but only be confined to that one room. Creeepy idea? Edited by: Apokalypse13 --

Nice asylum Loke. Especially with the dark and brooding sky box coupled with the rain effects. --

Rather than a mod, why not try and make a map pack? Get a few mappers together make 4-5 maps in asylums, use similar textures in each to give them cohesion, make some custom map models to use in each. 4-5 maps in a map pack on a "theme" is a nice way to explore a setting without having to worry about gameplay (if the mappers are good), without having to worry if people will keep playing your mod, without having to worry about finding a coder or too much beta testing, and if you do go into a full-blown map you already have a "core" set of maps to test on if not use in your final mod. -- teamgames are for those who want to blame their losses on others. Play deathmatch you wuss. |

There should be more games about psychotic people. Maybe I myself am a weirdo, but I am very interested in the workings of a truely insane persons inner sanctum. With proper execution, this mod could be really good. I think I recall a mod called "The Asylum" or something for Doom 3, announced last summer while I was in Germany.. I think I remembered being very interested in it, and I was planning on offering my assistance with the storyline, but never got around to it. |

This is a fine idea for a mod. Though it has to be all about atmosphere rather than action. Like a horror game. A slow paced adventure game. Edited by: RatoN |

Except it's an asylum, the "prisoners" would be against each other as much as anyone -- teamgames are for those who want to blame their losses on others. Play deathmatch you wuss. |
