i hate these new video games that you need a super computer to run the game. Thread

Such as doom 3 and painkiller. None of those run on my computer, painkiller. Why do they make games with so high demands if there not going to get sold?Are they fudging stupid? When I say they won't get sold, I mean they won't sell alot of the games.
I mean I like better graphics as the next person, except they should still make it capable of playing on almost any pc and those with better video cards can have super high detail why others have lower or medium detail in the game. Jesus christ.

If they made it playable on most compters no body would ever update and we would never get better graphics. They make games that need better computers to encourage people to update. If no body updated there would never be any computer technological advances. If better and better games could be made and produced without the need to upgrade computers to play them we would be one little step closer to a perfect world. but this never will be a perfect world. so the best bet is to keep your graphics card up to date.

yeah, you gotta keep up with the technology man, you cant be sitting at home with yer shit pc expecting new games to run for you

You can also buy a console - there aren't any hardware upgrades in that world. You just get the console, and play as long as you wish. Or you can sit at your old PC, and play the golden oldies.

Hey.. Those new games, like Doom 3, Painkiller or Far Cry don't only "require" those new graphic cards and supa speed processors. They make use of it; there wouldn't be a possibility to have the advanced filtering, trillinear stuffs, dynamic lighting and bumpmapping on the old Riva.

I still stay with old Riva and Celeron 400 tho; I bought my computer at 1999, where that Geforce boom just started, and I wasn't even able to play the older game at high resolutions; I upgraded some hardware at my PC, and now I'm going to buy a new computer again. I don't really need to play all those new games right now; I can play them a year later, on a new computer - it'll still be fun.

The Riva128 doesn't do cubemapping. Only the Geforce256 and up for nVidia's family.

Farcry runs fine on my 1ghz tbird, I'd say i'm prepared.

actually, doom3 and painkiller have been "bought" by nvidia so they will have some super-tuned graphics optimized for their graphics cards... and you will need to buy teh nvidia cards to play them

They still run fine on other cards, Nvidia just help optimize the games

yes, i even played the second demo. as crappy as the first demo. My fps is just to low for this piece of shit...

I played painkiller, didnt really do it for me , not my kind of tihng :/

Its fun and follows the quake root of throwing enemy after enemy. It looks fantastic to, nothing revolutionary, but you need a decent pc to run it properly.

i think something is wrong with my pc it doesnt look fantastic for me. Full graphics tho i dont understand, the graphics are bad (especially in the second demo) and gameplay sux even more. we need something revolutionary

and the game always trys to get a good fps (30 or something, i dunno), so it you have a low fps like 15 than 1 second actual gameplay takes 2 seconds

I thought lusting after new hardware, and getting a kick ass computer is what PC gaming is all about. With out it we are just console gamers

Ouch. I have a job and I still can't keep up with the industry. They push the envelope with every game. They don't want to let anyone catch up.

Thats fucking retarded, because we all know they can make these games to run on the shittest computers and still have the best graphics. And whats even more funnier doom 3 and painkillers graphics don't even look that good. Most ps2 games look better in the graphics department... quite funny if i may say.
