Lynx... Lynx... Isn't that the handheld that did everything the GBA did, but did it decades earlier? The handheld which might have ruled the roost except no-one bought it?

Is there any point in public debate in a society where hardly anyone has been taught how to think, while millions have been taught what to think?

It was a handheld, but I woudn't go so far as to describe it like that ;)

I've been trying to get my hands on one for ages.

Get a playstation 3. It's got free online multiplayer, the online service is just fine compared to what is offered by microsoft. Sure, they got hacked, but who gives a crap... it's not like the data was unencrypted. Oh and, counter strike global offensive is cross platform on ps3 version, but not xbox... which is only a symbol that in the future, more games will be cross platform... with the ps3 and not xbox. I have both a ps3 and an xbox... ps3 is simply a nicer package.

Yeah Ambient_Malice, the Lynx had Rampage and other great games. I always wanted one too, Ambershee :)

Regarding consoles - I don't really understand why you want to buy either of the current generation consoles in (probably) their last year, before being replaced. If there is no hurry, wait until the Wii+ is released - maybe it will force Microsoft and Sony to change their pricetags or add more gear with the console. Okay, the PS3 is around 250€ here, so that's not a lot of money. The Blueray player is still a selling argument beyond free i-net, so if you watch a lot of films that might be a good idea. Also, I still don't understand who's crazy enough to pay for a monthly online service, but apparently X-Live users find that normal.

Personally, I'd buy a good used one now or wait until the next generation is released, in 2013. Prices for current gen hardware will drop dramtically, as usually. And at least the PS2 was still good for 1-2 years after the PS3 release. I'm fed up with consoles, I'm back with a powerful PC. That may be a bit boring for anything but online gameplay, but at least I can do 3D and whatnot with it. So it's not only for learning, but also for education. Maybe you can convince your parents to throw in money for a good PC, instead of a console? I'd prefer that, but that's just a personal choice.
