It says in your profile you have the ability to make games with the UDK, and created some of the best maps available...

If the former is true, then you should know the answer.

It entirely depends on the scope of your project and what you're putting into it..

Why would a zombie game be any harder than any other type of game on the UDK?

well, i am a level designer and i was thinking more on the programing side of things.

Are you going to program it yourself?

If you are, and aren't a programmer, then it'd be much easier to do it on Unity.
The code already exists in both engines(unity you have to download the examples on their page; the UDK its built in stock);
The UDK's example project is much more complex than the projects Unity offers.

UDK would require a little more work, but you can get a nicer result with such game.

Ultimately the engine doesn't matter. It's what you're going to put into it.

When my game, Crusader's Quests, is much farther along, i'm going to modify it into a zombie-apocalypse game. It will have extremely similar game mechanics, but modern day on Earth...
