How do you dev texture? | Locked | |

Looking at a lot of WIP maps, one thing I notice is the dev texturing. When done right, it often looks almost as good as with final textures. It makes it easy to find where you are and where you are going. I have been trying to work on getting this in my WIP maps but haven't been able to. Therefore I will ask the forums: How do you dev texture your maps? Do you use some sort of pattern, system? Source provides several different colored dev textures, but I have not been able to find a way to make them work together well in my maps. Thank you. Edited by: Deathbagel |

I am using source. If you had read the whole post you would realize that I know how to apply dev textures, I'm not stupid. I was just wondering if some people use a system in applying them, as my dev-textured maps always look confusing. My question is about how to achieve good color contrast with the different dev texture colors provided, not just how to make a dev texture. It has nothing to do with texturing, when I said texture and texturing I meant applying textures, not creating them, sorry for the confusion. --
