Not sure I agree with half of these, but I like the idea of Tom cruise (perhaps with a nose job)

Everything fits, except I still think Edward Norton would fit the part as Gordon. He just sort of gives off that vibe that Gordon has. Tom Cruise is too Hollywood for this part -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

lol omg that is great --

hah, they fit well -- Nothing. |

Of course, I remember reading something like this from a magazine article or a website, with almost all of them the same choices (except for Tom Cruise, when it was actually Ed Norton). -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Well Tom Cruise is a ladies man and might appeal to the womenz0rz more.... or chis... --

what ever happened to the Deus Ex movie that is mentioned in PC gamer issue 100... |

Yeah, I really think tom cruise would make the part too garish. Edward norton is too scrawny and white to fit the job. I think Morgan Freeman(coincidece? I think not.) would be a good fit. Only problem is, Gordon never speaks. --

Just add some weight onto Edward Norton with muscles and give the guy a little but of a tan. If you haven't realised it, Gordon himself is quite white himself If you've watched Fight Club, it'd be really awesome just to have Edward Norton just stand in as Gordon and act out without saying any words. It'd give a real twist to the movie genre to have a character like that only act out with actions instead of words. Of course, the first-person perspective would probably make all of us barf. Heheh -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Charlie Sheen from "the Arrival" IS gordon. |
||
Dec 2 2004 Anchor | ||
But Charlie Sheen nor Tom Cruise really fit that nerd style that Gordon Freeman has. I still think Ed would be perfect for that part. But there's so many choices you could have... like Johnny Depp, and actually Michael Douglas. Have you guys ever seen "Falling Down" the movie before? He was downright scary in it. He was this normal middle-aged lawyer (I believe?) until he went on this rampage of depressed behavior, and started to kill all of these people while grabbing a gun and dressing up for the part. He even wore this black glasses like Gordon did Besides Charlie Sheen and Ed Norton, he'd also be a perfect pick -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

I don't get it... how the hell do you put on a hazard suit? In-game you walk into it and magically don the thing, yet in real life it looks like you need to strip down, put on some thermal underwear, put on a basic protective layer, strap on the padding, pull some trousers on over that, clip on the armour plate, step into the boots, buckle them on, pull on the oversuit for the top part, put on the body warmer bit, fix that damn collar thing on, snap on the armor plating, pull on the gloves, buckle them in, then turn it on. Not bad for when you're in a rush eh? |

Oh man, actually hadn't thought of him. Falling down is an awesome movie. Quite funny too. If I recall correctly, he was a nuclear engineer, but at the time of his rampage he had been unemployed for a month. He would fit the part, if he was a bit younger and a bit more built. I think we're negating the fact that they also would have to be a ble to act the part, If I saw bill cosby as eli vance, it would totally detract from the movie. @jackson. What you described reminded me of kurt russel in Escape from LA. If it was the 80's, he'd play a good freeman. Edited by: --

@jackson - You think the player would want to wait along while Gordon did this? Lol, that would take about 5-20 minutes, depending on Gordon's hurry. At the time, he wasn't in one, so not everything in the game is realistic. Of course, I wonder what it'd be like to wear a Hazard Suit. I hope they exist some day -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

They already do exist. They are just not as flashy, and don't absorb bullet damage. --

Bill cosby would ruin it. You would need some one more real. |

You realize they'd have to shoot the whole movie in one take then? (Unless they resorted to loading sequences... that'd be classic! A movie with loading sequences...) Edited by: EvilFish |

Not necessarily, EvilFish. He could randomly fall asleep every five minutes! In fact, I'm sure that Valve could come up with a witty way to incorporate that somnial defisciency within the plot. Perhaps a headcrab is latched onto the back of Gordon's head! I think that most of those actors are quite fitting, especially Sean Connery. He is absolutely perfect for the role of Dr. Breen. Somehow I don't like Robert Patrick for the G-Man, however, but I also cannot think of a better actor. It would be impossible to capture the G-Mans surreal aura in a real live character, so maybe Robert Patrick is the next best thing. Colin Farrel would play a good Barney, though he doesn't look much like him. Otherwise, it's a great list! |
