any card that is Direct X compatible. 64 mb of video memory at least. you can get a pretty cheap card that will play hl2 well. |

I paid a little over $100 for my 9800 SE straight from Newegg.com, and it runs Half-Life 2 great. It may have long loading times, but that may be because of my processor and not the graphics card. Try Newegg.com for some great deals (outside of EBay) for video graphics cards. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Radeon 9800 Pro 128.. Runs well... Have to use Above Medium Settings with it though, don't get the most out of HL2, but it still looks great... (Next week ill try to get my GeForce 6800 GT, yeah im back stabbing ATI) Edited by: Stallion001 |

another question, is a higher or lower memory clock better? |

high memory clocking is better than high graphic clocking.. speed is better than visuals that are slower than the other.. which is why i prefer the 6800 GT over the Radeon X850 Edited by (in order): Stallion001, Stallion001, Stallion001 |

Well, its ideal to have them run in sync... And speed vs quality is a whole war too. |

Nah, a 1.49GHz will run the game with no problems. Aside from a graphics card (I'd go for the best you can afford, it'll be good for the next few years then), you may also want to consider more RAM. I would recommend 512MB as a MINIMUM, and ideally 1GB. Crucial.com are my personal favourites for RAM, but see what you can get elsewhere. |

ewww 1.49.. save up for a mother board and a new proccessor... www.newegg.com cheapest place for PC parts.. lmao, only 300 dollars for a nVidia 6800GT... 400 for a P4 3.6 ghz and only 300 for a 3.6 ghz compatible mother board... Edited by: Stallion001 |

Stallion001 - I'm running on a 1.81GHz and I can quite happily run 98% of things. A processor does not a PC make, there's a lot more goes into it. But saying that, if you're upgrading your PC it's probably worthwhile saving up quite a bit then getting a new motherboard/processor/ram/GPU |
