GTA:VC Meets Akira. Thread

The year is 2019, 31 years after Tokyo was destroyed by a top secret weapons project during World War III. Now, Neo-Tokyo has risen from the ashes to become a dark and dangerous megalopolis infested with gangs and terrorists. The government seethes with corruption and only maintains token control over the powerful military that prevents total chaos and hides the secrets of the past.
Childhood friends Tetsuo and Kaneda plunge into Neo-Tokyo's darkest secret when their motorcycle gang encounters a military operation to retrieve an escaped experimental subject. Tetsuo, captured by the military, is subjected to experiments that make him a powerful psychic, but, unfortunately for Neo-Tokyo, Tetsuo's powers rage out of control and he lashes out at the world that has oppressed him! Nothing can stop the destructive forces that Tetsuo wields except possibly the last boy to destroy Tokyo - Akira!
Though, this game will take place a few months earlier than the "Akira Incident".
You play as Kaneda, the lead character in the movie "Akira". I have a few friends and I working on stroy boards for the (Pre-Akira); First mission could be something like, Kaneda comes back from being in the pen for over the weekend and finds that some minor gang thought it funny to steal his bike.
What dose he do? Get it back
Just imagine GTA:Vice Ctiy. Set place in Neo-Tokyo Japan, modern weapons, good story and hours of endless Singleplayer fun.
The game will run from a month before it, through the entire movie. (Idea's of cutsceens from the Anime are possible, though copyright restrictions are being a hassle). If anything I'd like to see us w/o any cutscreens; i.e everything ingame..ala' SoF2, GTA:3/VC style. While we still can use the voices from the accutal film.

Characters:

Kaneda:
You play as the leader of a biker gang in Neo-Tokyo, Kaneda, who maintains a tough and rebellious exterior, but he doesn't attempt to hide his passion for motorcycles, his loyalties to his friends, or his infatuation with Kei. Kaneda learns about the secret of Akira while working with Kei and an underground terrorist group to interrupt the government's experiments. He is genuinely concerned about Tetsuo, who has been his friend since they were small children in an orphanage, but soon discovers that Tetsuo has always resented Kaneda's protection...

Tetsuo:
The youngest member of Kaneda's biker gang, Tetsuo's inferiority complex leads to his reckless actions to win the respect of the other gang members. After a near-collision with Takashi (No.26), a severely wounded Tetsuo is taken by the military and they begin experiments to bring out his psychic abilities. However, Tetsuo's abilities surge beyond the military's expectations and Tetsuo is eager to test the limits of his new powers against the military or anyone else that stands in his way. Unfortunately for Neo-Tokyo, Tetsuo's powers begin to spiral out of control and there may be only one force strong enough to stop him - Akira.

Kei:
Kei is a young woman working with an underground terrorist movement to disrupt the military's control over Neo-Tokyo. She first encounters Kaneda in a Police Station where he tricks the guards into releasing her before they can identify her as a terrorist, but Kei initially shows little interest in Kaneda. Kei is devoted to her work with the underground as well as to the group's leader, Ryu, but begins to show some compassion towards Kaneda after their encounters with the military and with Tetsuo.

Colonel:
The Colonel is the head of the military controlling Neo-Tokyo and the project to harness the psychic powers of the children. He knows the secret of Akira because his father was part of the original Akira project that destroyed Tokyo 31 years ago. He is wary of Tetsuo's immense powers and resentful of the corrupt and bickering civilian government that attempts to limit his power.

Gangs and possies:
Throughout the torn up city, people strive for power and wish to group together and insist on their superiority over everyone else. In the world of Akira many gangs and rivals plague the city. A perfect chance to set up for a story.

Sounds good enough. I gotta see it tho to picture it. Deeper bad guy plot would be good!

If someone were to do this, DONT use the named characters.

Just have gangs duking it out.

hmmm, u could even mod vice city when it comes out, but like magnet said, call them something different, like arika and oustet and stuff like that

Imagine this..

Tokyo blown to bits... its being rebuilt... really dirty, imagine blade runnerish style.

Akira is the name of this test subject that went wrong. The government was testing human psycic ablitaties and found a new test subject -Tetsuo, Kaneda's friend.
The whole movie is basicly, Tetsuo blowing the FUCK out of everything.. and Kandeda and Kei trying to find out whats happining. (Its very intense)..
You should see the movie first to get an understanding of it, but I really am still looking for people that would want to join..

No, many people have seen this movie; I think they want you to change the names for copyright reasons.

Its simple to get past the copyright, just talk to them and ask pretty please

Hey if your gonna do this I will help yah with the story I suggest that you can make chain gangs of experimented children and containment teams which are after you to take you back to head quarters for closer testing. I did hear that you can do fuck all with VC (if its true am as pissed off as you I had a good idea too). Its good to see ppl still resect the Japanese art.
