Half-life 2, Amnesia, Penumbra, Mortal kombat 9 (guts never get old), Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, Dishonored, Assassins creed entire franchise, Diablo 2 (didnt like 1 or 3) more and more I could rant for hours and I could rant for WEEKS on games I do regret buying.

I have fond memories growing up playing (and modding) the original Ghost Recon + Expansions (with mods), Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear (with mods) , Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, Star Wars: Battlefront II, and Star Trek: Starfleet Command. More recently there is: Far Cry 2 and 3, Crysis (with mods), the Fallout games with New Vegas being my favorite (better mods), Oblivion (natural only with mods, they blow Skyrim out of the water), Battlefield 2 (mods), Call of Duty 4 (the last good one), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (great with or without mods), Saints Row 2 and 3, Mount and Blade Warband as-well as with fire and sword, and Dishonerd, just to name a few.

That being said, if I had to narrow it down to one game; I would say in a heartbeat Jagged Alliance 2 (with 1.13 mod)

Frogger, Toobin', No More Heroes, Perfect Dark Zero, anything noir inspired.

Everyone has already said most the games I was thinking of, 'CEPT for halowars, that games was almost garbage

Ahh yes. The games that have given me pennies/hours of play. That have been installed in computer after computer everytime I upgrade my machines. Games I STILL play one of them daily.

Daggerfall (altho I wasnt please with anything that came later)
Master of Magic (MoM)
King of Dragons Pass (KoDP)
Stars!
Space Empires IV (altho I did regret getting V)
Diablo II (not thrilled with 3)
Dominions 3
Conquest of Elysium 3

There are NO regrets on that list. I have paid more for games that lasted maybe a month. usually because of some walk-thru always-wins strategy someone posts, or some backdoor/cheat. I would pay, or do whatever I could, to help those devs recreate/upgrade those games.

I used to be in that boat for a long time. Most of my old games... yeah, I don't regret buying, even the bad ones. Each one teaches you something as a game designer (if you're like me), or at least reminds how good others are.

Now, more recent unwanted acquisitions... maybe not as much, but still, you at least can be smart and do as best you can to plan ahead.

Air Combat and its sequels with the sole exceptions of Assault Horizon and Advance. Final Fantasy (the series), Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, Colony Wars (the series), FreeSpace 2. There are other games too but these are at the top of the list.

One I particularly like is FreeSpace 2. It's the reason why I'm here on ModDB and it was an unplanned purchase which changed forever my approach to videogaming.

Spec Ops: The Line.

I bought it in a bundle with the first two Bioshock games, and I haven't even played either Bioshock yet, but I know that I don't regret that purchase since Spec Ops is well worth the cost of all three games(Which was only a measly $10, since amazon is pretty awesome that way). It's definitely one of my top shooters, and it may even be on my top games list(I'd have to think about that one a bit more). It's also one of the first linear games I've played in years that I actually plan on replaying soon.

All in all it's a damn fine game. Highly recommended.

Definetly ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead, I've never spend so many hours into one game
since the release of it (Still playing today)
Have a total of 788 hours on it right now.
(I've spend probably thousands in some F2P MMORPG that I stopped playing years ago)

KOTOR I & II (super sexy)-(bought them twice ;P)
Dragon Age Origins
Final Fantasy Tactics : WotL
GTA 4
Napoleon Total War (firing lines so entertaining)
The Witcher 1 & 2 (sexy)
Mount & Blade Warband (near-perfect strat game)
AC2 & Brotherhood
Tropico 4 (awww yeah)
Any 2D Stronghold game
RCT 1 : Deluxe (of course)
Civ series
Sim City 4
DBZ Budokai..i can't remember, which ever one was on PS2 (maybe 2?)
Far Cry 3
BLOPS 1 (for the memories with friends, definitely not gameplay lolz)
EDIT: forgot to mention the Elder Scrolls Series, excluding Skyrim(it was fun for a month, then I realized it's a mass of reused areas and limited weapon and armor customization. You get to the high level stuff way too fast and the game is too easy. Needs variation and an actual difficulty curve!)

I think that about wraps it up.

Devil May Cry 4, Had and still have lots of fun with it, I stream it alot on my twitch channel (atleast once or twice a week) and trying to get my Skill level higher has been lots of fun, unlocking the various modes and difficulties and such. It's a very fun experience and I have an eternal love to games like that. (unlike the new DmC: Devil May Cry which shouldnt be called a Devil may cry, Of course its not a bad game but it's just not a DmC)
