Half-life 2, Amnesia, Penumbra, Mortal kombat 9 (guts never get old), Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, Dishonored, Assassins creed entire franchise, Diablo 2 (didnt like 1 or 3) more and more I could rant for hours and I could rant for WEEKS on games I do regret buying.

I have fond memories growing up playing (and modding) the original Ghost Recon + Expansions (with mods), Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear (with mods) , Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, Star Wars: Battlefront II, and Star Trek: Starfleet Command. More recently there is: Far Cry 2 and 3, Crysis (with mods), the Fallout games with New Vegas being my favorite (better mods), Oblivion (natural only with mods, they blow Skyrim out of the water), Battlefield 2 (mods), Call of Duty 4 (the last good one), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (great with or without mods), Saints Row 2 and 3, Mount and Blade Warband as-well as with fire and sword, and Dishonerd, just to name a few.

That being said, if I had to narrow it down to one game; I would say in a heartbeat Jagged Alliance 2 (with 1.13 mod)

Frogger, Toobin',   No More Heroes, Perfect Dark Zero, anything noir inspired.

Everyone has already said most  the games I was thinking of, 'CEPT for halowars, that games was almost garbage

Ahh yes. The games that have given me pennies/hours of play. That have been installed in computer after computer everytime I upgrade my machines. Games I STILL play one of them daily.

Daggerfall (altho I wasnt please with anything that came later)
Master of Magic (MoM)
King of Dragons Pass (KoDP)
Stars!
Space Empires IV (altho I did regret getting V)
Diablo II (not thrilled with 3)
Dominions 3
Conquest of Elysium 3

There are NO regrets on that list. I have paid more for games that lasted maybe a month. usually because of some walk-thru always-wins strategy someone posts, or some backdoor/cheat. I would pay, or do whatever I could, to help those devs recreate/upgrade those games.

I used to be in that boat for a long time. Most of my old games... yeah, I don't regret buying, even the bad ones. Each one teaches you something as a game designer (if you're like me), or at least reminds how good others are.

Now, more recent unwanted acquisitions... maybe not as much, but still, you at least can be smart and do as best you can to plan ahead.

Play Spec Ops: The Line. No, seriously, play it. NOW! It's probably still on sale on Amazon for crying out loud! I wish more games had balls like this game does, paired with some of the best writing, mechanics, and level design that's been seen this side of linear shooters.

Air Combat and its sequels with the sole exceptions of Assault Horizon and Advance. Final Fantasy (the series), Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, Colony Wars (the series), FreeSpace 2. There are other games too but these are at the top of the list.

One I particularly like is FreeSpace 2. It's the reason why I'm here on ModDB and it was an unplanned purchase which changed forever my approach to videogaming.
