Games Butchered by the Console | Locked | |

Here are some great games now ruined since they were imported into console systems: Counter-Strike (Xbox) - Counter-Strike became popular because of its fast-paced gameplay (thanks to the keyboard). 2 ways xbox butchered it was 1, because playing this game with a controller takes away its fast addictive game play, and 2, because of the xbox graphics. Xbox made the guns all cartoony and crappy. Even the oldest version of cs for the computer had sharper and better looking models. Call of Duty: Finest Hour (PS2,Xbox,Gamecube) - Ok, another game that loses its fun when you take away the fast paced part of using a keyboard. This is one of those games like cs where you cant have nearly the same experience with a controller. The gun graphics are also cartoony now because of being imported to the consoles. Mostly the same reasons as cs for xbox. Coming soon to be butchered..... Half Life 2 (Xbox) Enough said. Look at all the reasons above for those games and think twice as bad. |

i agree with call of duty, i played it and the gameplay isnt half as good as on a computer, FPS games arent really made for console games. -- ModDB Fucking Oldtimer and (ex) Crow |

Call of Duty: Finest Hour was a great game! I loved playing it. It was so much fun, especially because they delivered a new experience to the consoles It had some smooth animations, the addition of North African campaign was awesome, and the tank missions added welcome variations from the PC version. Not to mention, I had a blast playing on Xbox Live with my friends. It was a great game I seriously doubt Half-Life 2 will be bad on the consoles. Half-Life 1 for the consoles was a great game that just didn't get as marketed as it should have. It had great action, incredible AI on human opponents, and amazing level design. It was awesome playing through the single-player mode, and then afterwards, my brother/friend could hook up and we'd play coop. It was real nice -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

lol consoles dont have better graphics or ai however there are revolutions all the time even if theyre completely un-noticable in most cases and thats why quite a few of the ports from pc to console look better |

yeah Kristen Starcraft was for 64, never saw it for ps1... and CS for console has the worst buy menu ive ever seen in my life. -- snetErz.com - Web Design |

Does the buy menu mean that much to you? |

|
Dec 24 2004 Anchor | |
indeed it does spammer, seeing as I play cs on pc, I can quickly buy items, and with the cs buy menu, you have to move the joystick down around and all sorts, just to slow >.< -- snetErz.com - Web Design |

The problem with this thread, however, is that it's entirely opinion. You could think that the game didn't do well after being ported to console/PC, but in the end, I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who are entirely satisfied with the games they purchased. There are some great ported games, and there are some terrible ported games. But in the end, it's all up to the user. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

True, however I think we can all safetly agree that the Duke Nukem 3D port to Sega Mega Drive was indeed the worse port ever. --

GTA: San Andreas on the PS2 just looks horrid. Draw distance is terrible, fog everywhere, framerate drops in certain areas, low low res graphics, areas dont load in time (meaning you can fly into trees that havent loaded yet). Not the programmers fault, im sure. But the ps2 can't handle a game as big as San Andreas, and thus i would say it's been butchered. Can't wait til it comes out on PC. -- Feel free to visit my sites: GTA San Andreas | My Portfolio |

........... that was perhaps the worst bump ever? anyway, in hind sight, im going to agree that CS:X is just as good as PC version they both suck |
||

yeah ummm....ps2 cant butcher their game. if it was an xbox game that was wonderful, and ps2 imported it and then made it suck, that would be different. a game isnt butchered just because it sucks. and please dont bump any old topics up.... |
