Hey! I am looking for people for a an HL2 mod I've been brainstorming. Its called Firing Range, and it simulates a Firing Range. Seems boring, BUT its not. I am hoping to have a wide array of weapons, that are realistic up to the barrel twist. It will also have multiplayer with up to 12 people in competition. There will be various types like whoever gets the most points wins (points on the target ranging from 1-5), most targets hit (fast moving targets), clay pigeon competitions, and probably more. In multiplayer there will also be classes like pistol, rifle, shotgun, and scoped rifle. If possible there could be an unlock system, i.e. earn money from competitions, buy new guns, new guns safes. There will also be singleplayer where you can shoot, learn about, and get better with the guns in the game.

I'm looking for people who have experience with actual guns, so that they know what some the guns feel and shoot like, and know about them. Here are the position I need:

3 coders

4 modelers

2 mappers

Amusingly enough, you're not the first one to think of this concept, it's..interesting, at best. You'll never truly capture the feel of going to the range and spending afew hours honing your skills in a videogame, and even if you could the moral/ethical questions would be tremendous if you think about it.

Either way, what your talking about (after actually reading your post, and not just linking you to the actual mod Shooting Range) is more of a Competitive Shooting League, then a Shooting Range/Firing Range.

3 coders? Which orifice did you pull that number from?

You know when someone who knows nothing about firearms says something really stupid about guns and makes themselves look ignorant and dumb? You're doing the same to games developers ;)
