Hello gamming comunity.

Many of you maybe aware of the Total Conversion for Freelancer Freeworlds Tides of War 2.0 , I know...I waited almost 1 year and a half for it already but it's almost here. But this is not the reason for this post.
Freelancer is an awesome game, and the possibilities of that game are endless, what I have noticed since I started playing Modded Freelancer is a Lack of a StarTrek theme.
My "dream" as a Trekkie and a sci fi enthusiast was always to see a total conversion of Freelancer but to the StarTrek Universe.
I've seen videos, i've seen screenshots of TOW 2.0 and find myself wondering..."wow...this looks so good", Why not a StarTrek total conversion with this quality.
I've "spoken" with some of the members of the TOW 2.0 dev team and asking if this could be their next goal and although it wasn't rejected it was not in their plans...in the near future.
So here is when I thought "why not do it yourself".
This is why I am here.
I'm looking for people with the same level of enthusiasm, to make this a reality.
I have some game/mod dev experience. I am a self taught amateur 3ds Max moddeler and I already have a professional 3D moddeler in my "team".
I'm looking for any help. Although experience in Freelancer Modding is not a "must" it is greatly needed ;)

Anyway, thank you for reading this and keep in mind, I do this not to outclass TOW 2.0...in any way, I only want a StarTrek mod with that level of quality for all trekkies.

After a Litle meeting, it has been decided to start slow. Comming up with a mod that is a total conversion is not easy so we are going to do it baby steps style.
Here is what we want to do.
-Remove all trade lanes, Using "warp" to get to the planets. (increasing the drive speed)
-Adding Warp Core mechanics, ability to change warp core/engine so you can achieve better speeds everytime you upgrade it
-Replacing the jumpgates by wormholes
-Increasing the size of the System maps...to a more realistic and cannon distance between planets and station, increasing the need
to upgrade your warp engine
-Replacing ships in the game by startrek ships (as cannon as possible)
-replacing the guns, missiles and torpedos for a more startrek cannon projectiles.
-Comming up with a way to "simulate" or implement, adding Phasers, disruptors and pulse phasers
-Replacing the factions in game and adding some more by Star trek factions
-factions to be implemented -Federation
-Romulan Star Empire
-Klingon Empire
-Cardassian
-Dominion
-Maquis (Pirates)
-more (In discussion)

Anyway, this is what we have came up with, still need people to make this happen. If you want to contribute with your work to make this a reality...contact me.
I'm also opening a discussion on this thread on the this matter, what do you think about the idea? What would you add...or not add.

i wanted to create this mod a few years back and got sidetracked a bit. If you are still interested i would like to get involved. I have modding experience and have run many gamming servers. I also have a fair amount of knowledge of StarTrek. I used to play Starfleet Command wich is based on Starfleet Battles. I have a pretty clear idea of how weaponry should function. I believe models from that game could be converted / imported although my knowledge of ship building and creating the hardpoints is very limited.

It would be great if there was a ship developer / importer, a systems developer, and a weapons developer.

IMHO the addition of the means to capture systems as part of a conquest addon is paramount to the longevity of this mod. This way an ongoing dynamic campaign could always be in effect. I have worked on ideas that would enable this to be accomplished. However they require a restart of the server to convert the ownerships of objects.

Hi there, I am very happy that more people like this idea and want to get involved, I welcome your Ideas and they seem very good.
And yes I am still interested...and I wont stop until we have great mod for star trek.
I have 2 Graphic designers on board already, one is currently working on the Freeworlds 2.0 mod for freelancer.
The other...just doing meshes.
