[FILE MISSING] i can't play quake OMG Thread

ok, when i went to play quake using darkplaces it came out with this "Video Modes Failed"
then when i tryed telejano it said this "A reqired .DLL file, GLIDE2X.DLL, was not found." i don't a 3dFX card and what the hell do i do!

Reinstall, or is there a patch you need? Also, try Asking CheapAlert, he's the Quake guru around here.

AHAHAHA, oh this problem is easy as cake to resolve.

GLIDE2X.DLL is missing because you don't have the 3dfx Voodoo drivers installed, but since you don't have a 3dfx card anyways, why the hell is it asking this!?

Delete opengl32.dll in your Quake folder. That will get rid of the horribly outdated 3dfx minigl wrapper.

Now you can play GL engines!

And as for your Darkaplces problem, I take it you're starting Quake froma full screen MSDOS Box, so make that DOS BOX into a window and run Darkplaces again.

Ah, yes, the glide2x.dll/opengl32.dll problem is probably the most common question asked.

Why, I even recall when I asked that question myself, early 2002 it probably was. I think I asked it on a newsgroup (ha!) using Google, because I didn't know about any of the online Quake communities...

thanks cheap, getting rid of opengl32.dll fixed darkplaces and the other quake engines.
