I am looking for a safe, free and easy to learn image for MAKING game sprites. I want something that I can use a color mixer to make my own colors and such, I want a single pixel tool and opacity copatibality.

GIMP, it's pretty much a free version of photoshop minus some features here and there. I use it to make textures and such.

Well Crazynolis, I create custom textures using Pixlr, I have also used it for spriting, it is free and it will do everything you need, plus more. It is an in browser tool, but that does not really make a difference to me. I hope I helped, and good luck to you with your sprites.

For pixel art GraphicsGale is easily my favorite. It's built for pixel art.

And therefore, I think that most of the things you learn in GIMP you can also quite easily transfer over to photoshop if you ever need to make that change in the future.

Sure, but Photoshop costs 300e a year. I wish I learned to deal with Gimps limitations...
