I'd love to play shantytropolis, even though it's fairly basic, it doesn't mean it sucks, it's good usage of the basics, and that's what so cool about it. BTW, one thing that i've always wanted to do, and have done, since the days of mapping with Delta Force 2, was to make a town or game area with long grass and waist height water, or enough water that you can still have your gun out if you're standing. ah damn, probably my fault for throwing a fit promotional content: the turner farm features a trailer park called western wagon village. lo and behold, a panorama of the field behind the park (from APR's base location) the turner farm and ZYN dont reflect the park perfectly, or even accurately, however i do plan to one day put forth the effort into recreating the western wagon village trailer park with accuracy some day... might take a couple years before i even begin working on it though. but here, have fun comparing the turner farm version of western wagon village to these screens -- I am Redundant Jovian Thor. |

I believe that the 360 version actually has limitations on objects and so on, so if one were to try and open a not so limited PC far cry 2 map on the 360 that was above the limits of the 360, it wouldn't work too well. I believe that there are games like Unreal Tournament 3 can do what you're asking though. I already know about UT3, thanks. Is there any absolute way to copy a map from one format to another? Or is it all done from scratch? |

Maybe it's just some dummy using a 360 controller playing Far Cry 2. That wouldn't surprise me that much. Damb your analogies. lol =P TyeTheCzar wrote:

Or is it all done from scratch? Hmm, probably not at all possible, but theoretically the maps would be the same format, so you could possibly save them to the directory in which the custom user maps are held [in the 360 hdd] but then you would need some sort of oompa loompa hacked 360 hard drive to do this. Even if you could, who knows if they'd play. I'd say don't bother in any case. |

I've been thinking about doing a new Ultra Tank map, but so far that's all it's been, thinking lol. I haven't played online with you guys in a while it feels like. I will definately be on in the weekend as my mate will be coming over, and i'll have another copy of far cry 2 from ubisoft themselves for doing some work, so 3 computers in the house, should help to get the server going as we will all join at once |

You can count on me joining the server any day btw. Not ubisoft directly, but I saved them having to do the work. I won't elaborate further to prevent people thinking that they want in as well. I'll tell you what it was on steam zahl. |

well i toyed with shanty for a while today and came up with a few things that got changed, but im a bit disappointed that i cant bring the mem count down below 120... sacrifices are not something im terribly fond of, i am quite liking the shape of the map and the detail, frankly more detail would be nice... but ah well, i might just have to cut half the city out completely... which i truly do not wish to do. im not sure what all i could do to work this map favorably for lower end computers (cough, me, cough cough) without sacrificing too much gameplay, and to a lesser extent artistic, value. -- I am Redundant Jovian Thor. |

well, the mem count may be 120 but so long as the map is running ok, that's what counts, perhaps let others play test first, see if there are any complaints with performance, then if there is, tone it down. |

but i am a low end machine, i already know what my performance issues are, and i am still having under 30 FPS. that's rather common for me though, but still, i want to be able to enjoy the map too! -- I am Redundant Jovian Thor. |

Maybe you could update your video drivers to the latest version. I saw a noticeable increase when I upgraded to the FC2 beta drivers (dont remember version), perhaps if you do the same (update drivers in general dont use old betas lol) it can hold you off for a while until you build up the steam to do some maintenance. This one is temporary. I just have to put together a little gif. And yes it is a blatant copy of Otsies avatar. |

Oh LOL! I thought I saw the resemblance Looks nice Mine originally had silhouettes of veigns coming up from the darkness, but didn't use that one, it's used on my profile banner thingo up the top of my profile though. 4ev3r, I read that as "Silent Mouse" at first hehe, so I was thinking it would be some really cool rat maze kinda map, but in any case it looks good The new map I have been thinking of is not an Ultra Tank map, however another little fun wierd one like glass pit and watch your step etc. This would would probably best be called Vertigo or watch your step, but since I've already used that name, i'll just call it "on edge" Basically, you have as little as 2 beam width plaforms to run along a cliff face or a flat solid wall, so think of it as being like an old side view game.
