It was good. great concept for what a game has, but I was never a fan of any RPG. What I thought of it: The character designs were fantastic, though. But, of course, somtimes it was over-done. -- The Fry-Lord has spoken! |

IMO, from what I've read of reviews, its either a hit-or-miss. In my opinion, Fable was another prime example of the famed Peter Molyneux hype. Just like Black & White, he ranted and raved in several previews in a rather low-key manner to grab the attention of the gaming community with promises of the most amazing game ever, but in the end it turned out rather mediocre when compared with his hype. I'm sure without the hype, a lot more people would have enjoyed it because their expectations wouldn't have been so high. --

Trust me, he does succeed in what he set out to do, and that's create a revolutionary game. The only thing he didn't bring to the table was the story, and that's it. But for everything else, he did a superb job, as well as the guys at Lionhead and Big Blue Box. You need to play this game, just to experience what it's like to change your character's appearence and just be a complete asshole to villagers. lol EDIT: By the way, the replay value is actually quite high, just because your every action effects the game. You could be a total angel, or a complete badass, not to mention the different ways you can change your character. On that, you're wrong, Makkon, although I don't judge your score of a 7/10. The replayability is great, not to mention there's Xbox Live as well to this game - Edited By Karuto On Mon 20th, Sep 2004 @ 4:23:28pm -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Xbox live? Is Fable multiplayer then? I didn't think it was. --

It's just that you can see other people playing Fable and chat back and forth with them. You can't play with them, but you can chat with them -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

How is it lame? It's a real fun game, it's just that the story could have used work -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

It's great, if you can ignore the somewhat mediocre story -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Yeah some friends of mine were into it, what the heck is this game? They were playing a trailer that made it look like Morrowind but you start as a kid. And it seemed that the game's selling point was a 'light beams through windows' effect that was in every shot in the trailer. I didn't like the look of the game, it looked a bit cartoony. I'm not a fan of cartoon art styles, or games where you play as a kid. Edited by (in order): Sajt, Sajt --

The selling point was that you could mold your character into a skinny, small boy into either a fat, muscle-bound, or skinny man with facial features that reflect either tan (staying in the sun a lot) or paleness (fighting mostly during the dark). You could also be good or evil, depending on the acts you performed. Like, as a boy, I was told off by a guard, so I punched him in the butt, and that gained me some evil points. I could also beat up villagers, other kids my age, steal from people... the fun never ends -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |
