Expert coding question Thread

Hey, I'm just wanting to get some insight into centralized database servers for holding player information for storing player stats/id's/rank etc. Similiar to that of Americas Army Operations.

Does anyone know how much a thing like this can cost, how much time it takes to code, problems, pros/cons etc. etc.

I need as much information as possible.
