So cool that now everyone can play Unreal Mods! This should give the modding community a lot of energy and boost many projects, which have it easy to make an engine decision, now. I wonder what's going on at Crytek right now. They seem to be doing everything wrong that EPIC does right, lately. Edited by: SinKing |

Well, let me think - the ball = total conversion, The Haunted = Total Conversion, Planetstorm = Total Conversion (or is the sniper rifle from Unreal?), Prometheus = Total Conversion, Warm Gun = Total Conversion. If I count it right all of the Unreal mods I named are TCs, in fact I don't think any mods made it very far in the competition. So okay - you can't play mods, but you can play total conversions - which all those mods happen to be. --

Don't be so sure about that - if any of this mods uses a single UT3 texture and/or sound it isn't TC - you'd be either missing this assets in-game or you'd be using copyrighted material in order to run it as stand-alone. -- I don't need to ''get a life''. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!!! |

But the engine will quickly tell you what is missing - make new replacements and it's good to go. Not an overly painful task in exchange for standalone status -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

Yes, sure - I was speaking from costumer-side not developer-side -- I don't need to ''get a life''. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!!! |

Good move from Epic and the Unity guys, to try and save PC gaming. It's more about saving indie gaming I guess - most UE devs will probably be eager to release their games on X360/PS3 as well, while Unity is also an attractive platform for iPhone development. -- I don't need to ''get a life''. Funny that Epic are trying to save the PC platform when they came out and said they will be supporting consoles first and foremost with Unreal Engine 4 |

Not funny, understandable. They fucked up the PC market for their UT3 game ( both windows users and especially linux users with their year long drama and lying ). Now they want to salvage this all with a marketing move. Not a bad one at all. It will get them back on the PC market this way. As lousy as their PC fuck-it decision has been as clever is this marketing stunt here. |

True, this was well established when Gears of War came out. |
