Demise of Terra, the fantasy mod, is recruiting! Apply Here if you're interested in creating nothing less than mankind's greatest fight for survival, with a full supporting cast of angels and demons.

Demise of Terra is a Half-Life 2 multiplayer modification with a fantasy/supernatural theme, set in the near future (2010) in Europe. It concerns the war between Heaven and Hell, with Earth caught in the middle of all this mayhem. Involved in the conflict are Archangels, Demons, and two human factions - the supernatural organizations of both the government, and the church.

In the beginning, God created Earth, and man in his image - but man strayed from God's design.

The angelic host has been mobilized to clean up earth, to be ready for the next race, but humanity isn't going down without a fight - and Lucifer has chosen this chaotic time to make his bid for the domain of Man as a stepping stone for his return to Heaven.

Legions of Hell:
These ugly, ruthless creatures are hell-bent on killing in the name of their master, Lucifer. Ever since he was banished from Heaven he has been scheming and plotting to get back, and he has unleashed his army upon Earth in the hope of conquering it – with the portal to Heaven open, Earth is an ideal platform from which to launch his attempt on Heaven.

The Archangels:
Archangels are the fighting caste of angels, elite warriors sworn to God’s will. This does not bode well for humanity, as currently God’s will is bent towards its destruction, and these angels will not rest until mankind is no more. However, since Lucifer’s intervention the angels are now also concerned with preventing the forces of darkness from conquering Earth - and mass genocide isn’t made any easier by being attacked by demons.

The Human Race:
As of yet, humanity as a whole has yet to be alerted to the ancient war that is erupting around them, but two organizations have independently discovered the menace, the church and the government. Unsurprisingly, with God’s finest on one side and Satan’s minions on the other, the two have partnered up to fight for survival.

Objectives:
The Legions of Hell must conquer Earth, and in order to do this they must taint it and make it theirs. Once an area of land has been tainted, demons will be able to spawn from that point, and the tainted land will defend itself against enemies. Demons will be able to gain power by killing humans and taking their souls.

The Archangels must kill every last human, and make sure there is nothing left of the bodies for the priests to resurrect. Whilst they are hunting the humans they must be wary of the demons, as the Earth needs to be completely cleansed ready for God’s new creation.

The humans have the simplest and perhaps most difficult task – survival at all costs. It comes down to a battle between human ingenuity in the form of weapons and tactics versus the two most primal and powerful forces in the universe, both of them bent on humanity’s destruction.
