Cool Idea... what do you think? Thread

Name: Followers of the Nile
Engine: Half-Life 2
Gameplay Style:Team Deathmatch (Level System)

Basic Idea: The followers of three Egyptian gods Amun, Anubis, and Ra are in war over the dispute that one is more important than the other... now their ultimate goal is to make one of these gods the "one" god that everyone must worship.

Level System
(Follower) Level 1= 0-10 Kills
(Shemsu) Level 2= 10-50 Kills
(Demi-god) Level 3= 50-X Kills

Anubis- god of Embalming (Weigher of Hearts)
1)Follower- Black Robe, Sword and Shield
2)Shemsu- Black breast plate and helmet, dual hand axes
3)Demi-God- Dog headed mask, black full body armor, battle axe
(Has the "Plague" special ability)

Amun- god of Creation
1)Follower- White robe, sword and shield
2)Shemsu- White breast plate and helmet, javelins
3)Demi-God- Lion headed mask, white full body armor, spear
(Has the "Frenzy" special ability)

Ra- Sun god
1)Follower- Red robe, sword and shield
2)Shemsu- Red breast plate and helmet, dual short swords
3)Demi-God- Falcon headed mask, red full body armor, Great sword
(Has the "Incinerate" special ability)

Special Abilities
Special abilities are certain gifts given by the gods if you are deemed worthy.
Special abilities are attained after every 5 kills and last for 20 seconds.

Plague- Adds slightly more damage to attacks and poisons the victim (Poison-Victim loses 1 life point every 2 seconds)

Frenzy- Adds more damage and speed to attacks allows you to run/walk faster

Incinerate- Does much more damage and leaves the victim burned (Burn- Victim moves slower for a short period of time)

Shrines
Shrines allow your god to heal you and to annoint your weapons.
When a shrine annoints your weapon it adds slightly more damage to your attacks until you die.

Neutral Units
Chariots- Go very fast, but if the chariot is destroyed or if you fall or jump off while it is moving it takes away 50 life points

Camels- Slow moving, easy to kill, fun to ride

Mules- Fast moving, easy to kill

Opposing Units
Crocodiles- 70-100 Damage
Lions- 50 Damage
Cobras- 25 Damage (poison ability)
Scorpions- 5 Damage

I don't even know if you can do some of this, I know I have seen the Level System before but with the other stuff like chariots and camels I don't know about... well anyways tell me what you think

Very cool, should be easy to do the level thing and the rideable animals should be quite easy with HL2's vehicle code (Of course you would have to tweak it so that they don't act like they have wheels)

yeah i have always like egyptian mythology and i was like hey thats an idea but anyway if enough people like it I will seriously consider making it because I am probably gonna learn how to model hear in the near future and I know how to map pretty well so all I need is a coder and maybe another mapper and modeler

I think it could be carried off well, especially with some REALLY nice gippy style maps - not the dark tomby rubbish, the gold and sapphire sunlit sort of beauty you can do

that would be cool except for the fact i ahve to buy hl2 say thats hmmm an extra $100!!!!! OO THE HUMANITY

Blarg - I got my copy for 60 Euros (which includes pre-order price, postage and 19% tax) - what are you dribbling about Skitz?

Sounds kinda sexy... cant wait to see some models of anubis... From what u said it sounds like theres not much advancment between levels 10-50 so maybe the gods could give special weapons or something like that... you know to make it more strategic in a way. dont get me wrong still sounds great and would probably play it if it was released. Safe!

hmm... guess im getting milkshape then... wait... do you think they will release a new modeling program for HL2? o well either way I need to learn how to model... most of all I need to learn how to stick with a freakin idea and not lose intrest like I do with way to many things ... by the way you won't be buying HL2 just for this mod... trust me!! there will be much better out there!

Modellnig's fairly easy start off with a basic shape thne move up.... Ive been donig modelling for say 2 days and have modelled like 4 swords 2 bows and a quiver pack
