Thanks. It's a helicopter crashing into a building, I'm gonna have to make it more obvious. Thanks for the input guys, greatly appreciated. ^^ Also about the Chaos Warrior thing, the biggest thing I'd say you need to change is the horns to eradicate that similarity. Maybe you could have the horns pointed straight up, instead of like a bulls horns, or have them overly jagged (remember, sharp shapes = cruel and imposing), and a LOT of sharp edges. you could even go as far as making them antlers (don't get carried away though). Basically, what you have already is starting to step into the world of fantasy, your painting isn't bound by many rules of reality when it comes to appearance, it's stylized... so there's nothing stopping you from making the horns into something that would usually be unfeasible. I tried drawing an example for the horns as to what I was trying to explain, but in a 5 second sketch it's hard to capture, it'd take quite a bit of work to get a cool, evil, unique design, but the horns in this pic are one of the main selling points of your character, so it'd be worth the work. Hope this helps! |

Zenarion: it does look like a chaos knight operation _sleepwalk: Quote:because the consumer knows nothing about the process only the result
heh. I doubt anyone will actually take the trouble to do 3d now anyway. A month is hardly enough time to make the models, texture them, and arrange them into a scene. and it will still probably end up looking lacking however, people might incorporate 3d elements into their concepts. I definitely won't, given how hard it is to merge 3d and 2d assets without it being glaringly obvious BlightedArt: Quote:Hey everyone. I'm really not sure if people are going to give constructive criticism here, because this' a competition after all
from what i could see of that snippet of yours... looks like an urban scene. noice. -- Dreams of things that will never be, |

i wasnt insulting 3d artists or saying that its in anyway different in terms of skill i ride the very strange and narrow fence of being a great enthusist(<whatever) blah and technical design of mechanical pieces and the free flow of general conceptualizing and here are some more submission samples i know only one is allowed but i do a couple then make my friends pick

im also gonna be doing as many as i could and have my friends pick, lol. yep, 3d is a great way of studying shadows cast and interpreting it into 2d. I'm actually making a shadow study right now on max. and it's going horribly lol. my perpective's skewed. hehe. have to correct it. awesome sketches btw. is this gonna be the race of that previous drawing of yours? -- Dreams of things that will never be, |

![]() good thing is to buy a beginners guide to pencil drawing. Won't be unexperienced for long and perspective is actually a pretty simple thing, once you understand how to handle it. Your drawings will look expressive and correct, without much a do (like without making a whole scene in 3ds just to check the shadows...) Yeah, I know - lots of concepts here, no mindless banter, but I don't have time to draw and I love reading my own stuff. Over and over again. Mock Coy Edited by: SinKing --

Btw, drawing in 2D has other rules for perspectives and shadows. Hence a 2D drawing derived from a 3D looks crap in 99% of cases. This is because in 2D you can "cheat" at perspective and shadows to make something look better. |

@SinKing: if i had money i would. lol. anyways i can do persp and lighting by hand, its just that when the scene gets complicated that my mind needs help. -- Dreams of things that will never be, |

Finally managed to scan in my crappy little drawing. It's nowhere finished yet and I don't know if I manage to ( next to no time available currently ). I went with noir in the sense of dark/shadows/shady making my own interpretation of a Master Thief.

another question: do we get to have captions on our concept art? much like how operation_sleepwalk described his? i was thinking along the lines of: Description of the picture or do we just let the pictures speak for themselves? -- Dreams of things that will never be, |
