A Step Into Oblivion

Dreams of things that will never be,
Songs of thoughts only I can hear,
Leave me be to sleep forever,
To dream my dreams,
And sing my hymns,
Of things that will never be...

Decided to scrap my old drawing since this contest takes now a complete different direction. Since anything non-sci-fi seems to be ruled out I'm moving things to a more sci-fi context. The principle stays though the same. Noir in the sense of "dark", "shady people", just anything that happens while you are supposed in your bed sleeping. A modern time thief therefore.

Wait, you mean it has to be sci-fi ???!!!!

Nov 5 2007, 3:32pm Anchor

No, the topics are guidlines, you fill in the rest:) I am sure that as long as the artwork clearly pertaines to one of the themes you are A for away!

My picture is pretty much finished already. Only took 2 days and I managed to pull off something really awesome using Charcoal and Photoshop :D. The result looks pretty cool and everything but I don't think it has the detail to win the competition in its current state. So I might add some extra little bits on to it this weekend. That computer is mighty tempting :D.

Not yet. I'll put it up 1 week before the submissions close. I never exhibit an unfinished work unless I have no intention of finishing it :D

Right. This was the initial concept I was going with, and I only went so far with it:

I didn't find the idea interesting enough and I wanted to create a more dynamic environment other than the plain skyline of Calgary.
The characters shown are what they will be similar to in the finished product. Anyway, this brings up a question: Is it alright if I use real-world weaponry or should I create my own? I originally want to go with riot-control, but with the concept I'm working on now, I don't think it will still apply. If so, I'll be drawing it in the filme noir style regardless:

If you don't post WIP shots, how can you expect to receive CC? This is probably one of the most important things when it comes to improving one's self as an artist, unless you aren't really serious about art.
