I wonder why nobody has ever thought of making a cloverfield mod?? Would be interesting to have a mod where you are in almost the same type of position as the characters in the movie but instead you actually have weapons or maybe military's  perspective and try to kill it.  Would be interesting lol. Any takers or thoughts?

they never could kill it
making a mod where you just run from the danger can get a bore easily imo

Aside from copyright violation issues, ideas that can be jotted down in 30 seconds on a paper napkin aren't generally a productive topic to discuss in this neighborhood.

Creating a mod requires: Creativity. Skill. Effort. Two out of three doesn't count.

I couldn't see this working out to well. I mean there's a couple things going for it that could make it a fun GTA online mod or something. Small creatures running around trying to kill humans try and stop them hurt the creature etc etc. If done properly with a storyline or something it may succeed but otherwise its just a movie game that goes nowhere like the rest.

Yeah well just an idea doesn't have to be exactly cloverfield.  Just never seen a game or a mod that has anything to do with a huge monster going around the city killing everything.  Could make a mod thats doing it from the militarys perspective maybe.  And you'd have to make it to where you could kill it but would be hard as hell to make it interesting. And don't say anything like zombie mods, those get old and are a waste of time to me.  But yeah taking something like a GTA:SA or one of them and modding it to be like that or something else to idk.  Just an idea is all.  Don't have to shut it down when you first hear about it i'm not a modder so i'll never make it don't have the time to.  But just a idea is all.... thanks for the input though even if it is putting it down.

It would call for a city which would be harder to create, test, and have look good, and since there is a giant monster rampaging through it, would have to be very destructable. Even then the concept of a giant monster (be it the cloverfield one, Godzilla, etc) doesn't seem like it would translate too well to games as even armies in such movies barely do anything other than make the monster angrier (like dark_raver said).  Even if you could hurt it, gameplay would mostly consist of firing at it while wondering if you are doing any damage, retreating, and firing again. Controlling the monsters though...

While you don't like the idea of zombies, they do serve as a smaller more personal threat that the player can interact with to a greater extent. I would recommend something like the movies [Rec.] or Diary of the Dead as they share a great first person perspective similar to Cloverfield but then I remember: such a perspective is very common in games. It's an interesting story-telling angle for films, but would lose a lot of the impact when translated into a mod. Granted they don't have to be zombies just because they are "small creatures running around trying to kill humans"; there's plenty of smaller monsters to use than the walking dead.

On the other hand... if You gave the running a goal - something Cloverfield-like, then it may happen to be a good plot, as I personally liked the movie. Perhaps replace zombies with aliens, and youll get Your effect? [ I'm not going into specifics here, just a banter ]

In my opinion, Cloverfield just doesn't have enough uh lets say meat to the univerese. There just isn't much to play with.

If you would like to make a Cloverfield mod, don't use that specific title, because of copyright issues. That is a warning.

You could make it Cloverfield based, where it is the storyline of Cloverfield, modified to a storyline of your own. You would need to make it quite unique to avoid copyright infringement issues.

So, yes that would be legal, if you use your own ideas, story plot, and a different title for your mod.

i wish i could make a war of the worlds game.

yeah i think someone should make a clovefield mod where at the end you have a choice to be human or monster fre roaming around manhatan. and somebody should make a war of the worlds mod based on spielbergs film as alien and human free mode at the end as well.
