Heeeello everybody!

My name is Pax and I am totally new in these forums. I have been lurking around from time to time especially for Killing Floor mods and the likes.

However let me explain the reason why I finally write my first post:
Some days ago a friend of mine and me were talking about old(er) games and stumbled upon Clive Barker's Jericho. I don't know if anybody here knows this game, but it is AWESOME. It's a first-person horror-shooter where the person you play dies in the first level and from there on continues to exist as a spirit who can enter the bodies of the members of his squad and control them. Every member is some kind of warrior mage who has been trained in both occult and normal warfare. So far for the story. Unfortunately this game doesn't come with a multiplayer although it seems like it has been made for it. You can control up to seven characters which all have two supernatural abilities and at least one normal gun. These characters are divided into two teams and the ai-controlled characters can be controlled by simple tactical orders. So the idea that has been stuck in my mind for a far too long time now is if it wasn't possible to create a multiplayer mod for Jericho. Unfortunately my programming skills are somewhere around "Hello World". So I just wanted to infect your minds with this idea and hopefully another person who is more skilled in programming will make it happen for me and all the others who had similar ideas.

Pax out! Have a good day!

After reading up a little bit I couldn't find any mod made for Mercury Steams engine 'Mercury Engine'. That being said I think making such a heavy mod like adding networking is a pretty huge thing. While I am not a programmer myself I have learned that adding multiplayer to a game pretty much means re-writing the whole framework unless multiplayer was had in mind from start.

I guess the only way to truely know if it would be too much of a hustle is to have someone do a technical analysis of the engine.

Hey and thanks for your answer. :)
I am not sure if you are taking about online multiplayer, but would local multiplayer be as hard as you describe it? And do you know somebody who could make such a technical analysis like the one you are talking about?

Hey! No problemos!

I had an online multiplayer mod in mind. I just asked a programmer about it and he said synching data is far more complicated when it is online but is still a pretty big thing to do local/hotseat multiplayer.

Yes, but I don't think they would do it willingly for free! ^^
