My idea is this: How about for arguments sake a WWII mod where in our actions effect
the envioroment arround us, Where a grenade will acctualy blow a hole in a wall or disintergrate a door, where a well placed bazzoka shell will bring the roof down on a enemy/enemies, you can move boxes etc arround to create barriers, and or you can dismantel barriers that have been placed. where you can manipulate articles in your
envioroment to make say a petrol bomb.
I think it would be possible, in QuakeII you can blow up selected premarked walls that
lead to secrets, and there is a section near the beging of the game where you approach a bridge and it blows up in front of you, in HL you can move boxes arround and even break them with your trusty crowbar, a lot of games allow you to shoot out the lights
blow up consols etc.
A lot of games are trying to make up real worlds in which our actions have effects on others, the old FPS where you ran arround with almost inpunity killing everthing in your path is dying, a lot of games you have to think a strategize in like, Rogue Spear, Delta
Force, even AVP needs some sneaking and creeping in, especially as a marine
and now with Istagib in a lot of games, that old almost infinite health bar is passing away.
But to really make them real I need to be able to dig a hole to hide in , or blow down a
wall to access a room to get to a sniper nest, or rig a shotgun with a tripwire,
or block certain streets and alleys to lead a enemy patrol into a ambush.

Neither of those games have really done what he is talking about though...

As fps's are going it won't be too long before we actually see something like this...

I'm planning on having Dh3 heavily orientated around the ability to blow the crap out of the scenery :). It's also using a lot of Far Cry's abilities to create a physical world with fairly good level of light blowing which confuses enemies and such like. It doesn't take much to confuse either the average DH bot or the average CS player mind.

I had an idea of World War II, much like yours, but rather than being shallow and focussing on a destructable, it included a dynamic campaign system which reflects the player actually living in World War II.
