While the boycotting of cod6 is still rushing around like a headless chicken playing doom 3 without a flashlight.
Activision has come out of their boycotting bunkers to announce Call of duty 7 (10 years later at this rate we have cod 2142)
"In [calendar year] 2010, Activision Publishing is expected to release strong, innovative new titles," Activision Publishing president Mike Griffith told analysts. "The diversified lineup will include titles based on the best selling franchises including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Shrek, [and] Spider-Man."
But the World war 2 setting has (about time) ended....so whats next then? Cold war? Joan of arc? World war 3?....well we dont know but it is rumored to be set in the cold war.

More updates to be said as they come around....

wow...didn't see that one comming /sarcasm
cod is one of those "if you don't like it, your not a gamer" games :/ i hate those >_> i feel more of a gamer by not playing them :/
anyway, the thing that made me laugh was:

Quote:The diversified lineup will include titles based on the best selling franchises including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Shrek, [and] Spider-Man."

diverse? all 4 of them are sequels O_o shrek is just wah? no one plays those :/ spiderman games allways suck, cod is going to 7 now, allmost as much as final fantasy :s and guitar hero? milk the milkyman :p
activision should merge with ea now :/ no one would spot the difference anyway :s

That's modern Activision for you. They won't publish any new IPs. I'm surprised iD are still going ahead with Rage, given that it's not an established franchise. We are after all, talking about the company that dropped Brutal Legend after they acquired it.

yay sarcasm :D

Quote:given that it's not an established franchis

they can because it's iD :/ they can bring out a crappy game and still be lauded to heaven just because they are the guys that made doom
doom 3 was total crap in comparison to doom 1/2 imo, i liked the simple go to the exit more then the wanabe system shock gameplay >_< (side note: the engine is great :) talking about gameplay here)

They're only allowed to because so many other third parties have their hands in the cookie jar. ID is seriously a spider web- there's all kinds of tangles everywhere with their IPs- its not a very smart way to do business since it could lead to some really bad legal battles if their relationships go sour. Lets not forget that ZeniMax is all on the "Lets sue them for no good reason" bandwagon. I don't know why Carmack insists on doing business like that, it just sounds over complicated for what it needs to be.

A while back I remember Treyarch was searching for Vietnamese songs. So Call Of Duty : Vietnam?

Release dates of COD games FYI (major releases only - excluding Big Red One, Finest hour &c):
Call of Duty (October, 2003) developed by: Infinity Ward
COD: United Offensive(September, 2004)developed by: Gray Matter Interactive
COD 2 (October, 2005) developed by: Infinity Ward
COD 3 - consoles only - (November, 2006) developed by: Treyarch
COD: MW (November, 2007) developed by: Infinity Ward
COD: WAW (November, 2008) developed by: Treyarch
COD: MW2 (November, 2009) developed by: Infinity Ward

So I would be damn surprised if 2010 was the first year since 2003 without a COD game when franchise is at it's peak. And for those who don't know - every COD game has 2 years development cycle - next year a game will be developed by Treyarch, in 2010 by IW and so on... I hope for Vietnam setting personaly, but I doubt it since it is really hard to make - lots harder than Russian military base or Stalingrad streets...

You enjoy it by playing the game and not buying the new one maybe?

Cold war is just a rumor started by a bunch of kids who don't realize the cold war wasn't an actual war.

it takes what, ~10 hours at most to go through SP games now a days.  Heck, I WISH everybody had a dev cycle as fast as they did.  There'd be a lot more neater games out there! Sure there'd be crap but we'd still have WoG2!  :D  It's better then the 5-10 year dev cycle other big studios do.

An interesting game could be made about the cold war, but it wouldn't be an FPS.

We'll ignore the fighting in Korea, Czechoslovakia, Vietnam, Afghanistan and the Middle East then?
