BLACK MESA IS DEAD Thread

Its unfair that a mod that's been dead for over 2 years is actually in the running alongside mods that are very alive and are being worked on very diligently. This mod should be declared dead, there's no reason it should still be available to be voted for

If people want to vote for a dead mod, that's their right.

This may be for you. Even though it dates all the way back to 2008, they're still going.

It's unfair that a mod is declared dead without any proof, I say we ban BlueDrake on the charge of spreading misinformation.

Proof?

They could do with updating their ModDB profile, yes. But even though it hasn't been updated for a while, I'd have a look at their devblog, or site, which tends to have at least some info on its development.

I don't know, if people thought there was a mod more deserving to be in the top 100 in place of Black Mesa, they probably would have voted for those mods instead. Though it shows that BM is still very much anticipated and supported, even though updates may be far and few between, it all should be good, give the developers motivation to get it into the released top mods next year.

I thought the same at one point a year ago or two about some mods getting into the top 100, but developers should be praised regardless of their status, we have proof they have done 100's of hours of work, and deserve all recognition they can get.

To be fair, it looks dead on ModdB. But the main website gets updated from time to time.

The mod itself isn't dead but it's moddb page is.

If it helps, users may vote on more than 1 mod and because Black Mesa has already won Upcoming Mod of the Year they can't win it a second time. That said, until the team behind BM declares it dead it's not cool to state anything as fact but of course welcome to debate. It would be nice to see an update considering many of us were huge fans of Half-Life 1 and remakes are usually quite popular.

there's still other remakes of HL1 games, fully votable (wink wink, nudge nudge)
though i'd rather see some non-remake mod take the first place.

Its alive and kicking. There just Not working alot on it , thats my guess . but yes there alive alright. if you check frequently on there site you'll see new stuff.

There was a feature with interviews in PC POWERPLAY magazine here in Australia. Early 2011 issue, if I recall correctly. They've REALLY slipped that 2010 release date.

like any mod they goes fast at times and can go very slow. If its true (probs not) a shame.

They need to pass the torch to someone else for this to ever get done.....

I put it down to anxiety that their work will not match the hype. So they keep plugging away.

Its not being worked on as they are working on the Xen follow-up and I believe (correct me if i'm wrong) they also created the Hazard Course remake and the remade Half life 1 demo. They are still actively working on the series, just not the specific Black Mesa mod
