Are you sure you don't mean alpha? Most mods release the beta right?

kraftwerk, I'm pretty sure every one else gets his point.
Besides it depends on the team and the quality/playability of the release.

Knyght, you should look for mods of the games/engines you are interested in and address your request directly to them,
if they are interested in creating a good content they should be interested in a skilled/experienced tester which is able to
hand over a decent report.
Most developers are to busy to look up the forums(to much, um... "things" are posted in forums), they probably would start thair own thread.

It is often so that they fear testers would complain to much, while they are still working on the project.
You need the right timing or luck.

Well, from what I hear it sounds like you're asking to be some kind of "closed beta tester", and if that's not a requirement, what's stopping you from picking up any of the games preferable not yet marked as released and giving them a report about the playability and problems? I know we've had a few players who have really taken the time to give us quality feedback about Sanctum. We appreciate this a great deal and that is the reason we have these public alphas as we choose to call them.

Also, from personal experience I know that very often the reason not to hunt for testers on forums and such vary. It tends not to be out of "laziness" or a fear of getting too many complaints. It's mostly due to strict deadlines and the amount of work required to prepare a version, find people, manage reports and discussions with external people and so on. And in the end, it tends to be a very good idea to have testers who can play the game locally where you can sit, watching over their shoulder how they react and interact with the game in question. You very often get more information from what you see than from what they can tell you. But of course it's always good to get someone who can sit down and actually put some real long-term effort into testing and finding bugs.

So if you're interested, you're always welcome to test Sanctum. If it's a matter of not having UT3, as you only requested source games, we'll hopefully be releasing a very up-to-date stand-alone version using the UDK. This should allow a much greater audience, which will hopefully also allow for more feedback from the community. We work in a very iterative manner and every kind of feedback will be gladly listened to, be it bugs or ideas for gameplay changes.

Best of luck in your continued search, Knyght!
