I have no idea about the limits in the sizes of the new maps in HL2...

But im sure they're high enough to start some kinda base jumping mod...just a thought ^^

Well, I don't know if it's really the same kick with a computer mod as in real life :|

base jumping= pretty much jumping off of really tall buildings or bridges and just kinda holding and throwing your parachute out.... I dunno how anyone could think its fun but w/e. Its not really a sport... its kinda like calling pogoing a sport :s

Not too sure about map size. If anything, I'd look at map poly limits and use that as a reference.

But...if it's just a general idea of how huge the map is...just look at the bridge map in HL2. That big enough for you? :)

take it from us, its big, very big.
its basically a massive rail bridge, very tall and with alot of space on either side which suggests the egine can support very large maps in any direction, it now all depends on how high youd want to make the buildings

For a smaller mod like this, Half-Life 2's incredibly involved and tedious modding process would be overkill. It could be a good concept, but an easier envirionment (that also supports huge maps) like UT2k4 might be better.

or it might be something to incorporate into another mod as a smaller feature. it was possible to parachute into maps on the earlier firearms versions, i dont know if that option still exists though.

But also think of the aesthetics(sp?) of a map made in HL2. If you're basejumping, you're gonna want some pretty stuff to see, right? source engine, though requiring slightly better systems (at least 1.4 processor, 256mb RAM and geforce 2 or better), the reward is well worth it to get a breathtaking scene to fall through. Seriously.

you probably wont see alot of detail if your falling, at least that was my experience of falling off the lighthouse in HL2 which was pretty tall :D
