Does anyone here develop any software with assembly? Is it something demanded in the job market? I had to take a course in it but it seems like such a useless thing to know!  I used assembly for the MC68k and Sim68

I wouldn't say its useless but you could probably survive without it. I don't think it's used exclusively for development anywhere these days but it probably has its uses if you're doing things with microcontrollers for example (which is the only time I've ever used it seriously).
Someone from Microsoft published some articles called "Just enough assembly to get by" a while ago which suggested that being familiar with assembly is a bonus too.
