My idea:

ive always wanted to dive deeper into the whole backstory of antlions( ie. are there more than two different types of antlions? where they came from, xen? or evolved earth bugs?) thing like that. I was kinda inspired by Antlion Troopers ( and Deus)

Okay so first off i thought id be cool there would be two sides one antlion one human rebel/ or combine. the antlion side would play sorta like an rts and there would be several different kinds of antlions such as a breeder gatherer ect. as well as the ones from HL2 basic warrior and gaurd. Anyways at the start of each (call it map round)there would be 5 sort of mini rounds the first would be the gathering / building round where the antlion player(s) [ dont know if it would work with more than one ] would use his gatherers to collect resources while the human side would start creating a base with a builder/engineer type class. the second third and fourth round would be comprised of different wave attacks that the ant lion player will launch when prompted ( maybe 5 minute[or more] attack waves ) and the human players must defend their base and make sure that the do not destroy some sort of primary object that they will need for survival like drop ship beacon or something. the last round would be either an attempt by the antlion player for a final devastating wave or if he has already conquered the base would be a round for the human players to attempt an escape ie. a drop ship landing somewhere nearby and they must get to it or something or they need to go thru an underground tunnel or something like that.

so thats basically the whole thing things could be changed of coarse but i was wondering what you guys thought.

So the antlion player uses an RTS style control to manage the antlion attack and the human players play FPS style to deffend?

If i understood it right it sounds like an amazing multiplayer game concept.

If done correctly you could make a real name for yourself. It would be wonderful. I could see teams of RTS nerds playing their FPS nerd friends and getting a really fun experience out of it.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. I would probably play something like that. Reminds me of NS.

the round concept sounds interesting. takes more than NS to make as it has a more depth. also the preparation rounds are a nice idea. takes out the rush-attacks in the first 20 seconds of matches like NS sometimes has it.

I like the idea. It would really spice up multiplayer games. I hope it starts up. Good luck with it. I hope you have better luck then i am having :P.

yah that basically hits the nail on the head problem is i dont have any experience making a mod or any techinical skills (trying to learn how to model...trying lol) i just thot it would make more sense because rushing kills the fun of the game in about two minutes and you probably wanna make it last. A few things i would really need to worry about would be fps having a bunch of bugs all flying around at once would really bog the game down so i was thinking maybe use a technique that i heard the makers of badge of blood (hl2 mod) and 1/2 total war (DoW mod)

also i was wondering if you guys had any ideas for different types of antlions so far there is the basic antlion that you have come to know and love then theres the gaurd that would be sorta like the ultralisk from starcraft of the game and then i would probably need to think of some kind of worker, a queen (thiking some kind of fat thing with the larvae pooper-outter thing sticking out of its back) and also like a flyer unit although i already know that antlions fly but these will be sorta like long range flyers that could do quick sweeping attacks sorta like the hoppers from Starship troopers. an other thing that struck me was the possibilty of the defenders being so good that they could actually turn the tide and might want to launch an offensive in that case i was thinking that maybe the queen could be captured/ killed ( i thot about if the antlion player were to have his own sort of stationary unit so that way he plays more like a sort of hive mind not necesarilly the queen.)

my idea for a defensive set up would be something like this
there would be basically a wall (of a base) set up and the defenders are inside it basically prepping for the invasion.

so basically - would be a basic wall while = would be some sort of main gate that eventutally after receiving much damage from the bugs (damage to objects code would need to be figured out or something like that for this part) would fall down/ be breached and the antlions would force the players to a second defensive area. the x's represent turrets used by the human players although im trying to figure out a way so that these turrets dont totally destroy everything that comes their way i would need to find a way maybe that the bugs can get around or something so that way its fair.

My list of ideas just keeps growning and im sorry i just loked at this and realised how lengthy of a read it was lol
i was also if i were (hypothetically speaking) to try and get this mod off the ground what would i need as in team wise

How about this? There should be several different types of attack antlions.

The first type avaliable would be the regular ones that are basically just cannon fodder. After that you could have heavily armored antlions that don't do as much damage, or weak antlions that do a ton of damage.

The list is basically endless. Instead of having different types of antlions, you could even upgrade the antlions that you currently have. You could get an armor upgrade or a claw upgrade and so forth.

I'm just throwing my ideas on the table here.

thats good i like the sound of that :D i was thinking of maybe some kind of suicide bombers that would helplessly smash themselves into the barricade wall

It would be even cooler if you could be an Antlion in first person, and dive into the sand and pop up to kill humans :paranoid:

i was kinda thinking about that first but then they would constatly be dying due to the fact that antlions die in 10-15 smg shots

well also it wouldnt be really fair like there would be one super smart antlion killing all of them that can fly around and stuff while the others are dumb gotta kinda keep a consitancy get what im saying :P
also that made me think of a sort of break in feature that could be added like saving up resources or w/e and buying an antlion gaurd upgrading it with a skill called like "burst from ground or something like that" and having it burst through the ground in the base kinda cool eh? and after the human players have (hopefully) fought off this suprise attack they must have their builder kinda patch up the hole otherwise more antlions would come out.

I just thought of a new idea if there were to be multiple antlion players at the start of each round a hive mind thing would be nominated and voted for then chosen the rest could choose from maybe three different units that would be sort of like hero units or something ala warcraft 3 and maybe help control some of the antlions (maybe there is a thumper or something and maybe the super antlion unit would be the only one that could deactivate it or something i dunno)
