I just got hit with what I think is a great idea for a HL2 mod. I have spoken to a few friends of mine so far and I've already gotten 2 skilled artists and coder/map maker, and a 3d modeler/animator. However I'm going to need a lot of help to make this project come true. Email me at gotekix@gmail.com if you think you could help out. Ok now here's the premise of the game and some details. Angels of Apocalypse (working title) Storyline You are part of the U.N. Special Forces team, nicknamed the Angels of Apocalypse, sent on missions after a zombie outbreak in the year 2025. Scientists are not entirely sure what caused the zombie infestation so they use your squad as means of retrieving vital information from science labs and on the streets in order to identify the origin. The zombies will search for any humans possible as means of nourishment. It is your duty to complete all missions sent to you by the government. Overview of Game play Mission types Classes - Engineer – equipped with a pistol and submachine gun, can repair damaged structures, plant bombs and crack key codes easily. This class is vital for most missions. - Medic (one per team)- has the antidote which can revive infected players only before they turn into zombies. Weapons NPC Enemies Playable zombie: -has improved agility and jumping abilities over humans Maps EDIT: I have revised the system to reflect a more in depth, unique mod sytem. Please read above and comment on what you like and what you don't like. And no, this is not a Resident Evil bite off. Constructive criticism is wanted to help the mod team improve on this idea. |

Ok. I don't mean to sound rude but I stopped reading your idea the second you mentioned "zombie outbreak". Zombie's are lame. Zombie outbreaks, is that all people can think of to do with zombies?!? Every zombie movie (and game) I have ever seen (and heard of) has had to do with a "zombie outbreak". Why can't the player BE the zombie? And another thing, why is it always the U.S involed. There are 7 continents, pick one! Again, I'm sorry to sound rude but this sort of stuff really annoys me. It's not just you, it's alot of other people as well. But...if you were to change a few things around, you might come up with an very good mod. -- There are no more original ideas. You just have to hope your ripoff is better than everyone elses. |

I'm glad to have your input. I'm going to take all the criticism I get and use it to make a good mod. See the problem is that nearly all the zombie games released before have not been good, which is why I want to make this mod, to give a good name to the genre. I think people are tired of playing lame zombie games but would be interested in one that is actually fun. You bring up a good point about the U.S. being the main focus, I actually was originally planning to have it set in Japan, which I may reconisder. Another thing the mod team and I are discussing is whether or not zombies should be playable characters, adding a new spectrum to the game. What do you guys think? |

Maybe instead of it set in just the one area, have it on a worldwide scale. And perhaps instead of just zombies, add some other creatures along with the zombies. Do you mean have maps in different places in the world, such as Japan, China, Australia, Germany etc. ? Or do you mean have like a massive level type thing? |

I mean have it in locations all over the world. Like you just said: Japan, China, Australia and all that. Make it the ultimate zombie outbreak. One where no-where is safe and everyone is effected by the same crisis. -- There are no more original ideas. You just have to hope your ripoff is better than everyone elses. |

I like the idea. I think that is what we're now going to aim for. There are many quirks that need to be worked out, but most will flatten out during the production phase. Thanks for the input once again. I still need a few more people to help out with the mod. Anyone with previous modding experience would be great. Though we have most of the jobs we need, we need more people doing the same jobs so things don't take eons. Will still need a sound designer though.
