Howdy all! I haven't been particularly active recently (as I'm currently completing the last year of my secondary education, I thought I should try this whole 'studying' thing I'd heard so much about), but I've just starting a standalone project, and would like some feedback. In short, it's a 2D (top view) multiplayer client/server based AI warfare game, where programmers can write a bot (and in some cases, allow human interaction if they wish) and connect to a server to battle it out. Deathmatch modes will be supported (primarily for people to hone the purely martial side of their bots, as opposed to the strategy), but most of the focus will be on team games. In most cases, all the bots on a particular team will be controlled by one client; one hive-mind AI against another (or more). HEAPS of customisation will be available, provided through a basic scripting language, allowing the implementation of virtually any game type you could imagine. Game modes will also set out the specifications for what bot 'hardware' clients will have access to, which will be appropriate to the particular game mode. (i.e. one team-based mode might provide a single queen to start the game, who lays eggs for other bots) Yes, I am aware that there are other games out there that have similar concepts, but I have tried most, and they don't quite meet my vision; none provide the level of complexity (whilst still having the option for simple modes) and power I'm looking for. Ok, with that aside, the big question remains: What to call it? Feel free to brainstorm, throwing any random names around, but I'd appreciate a quick check on google to see what's already been used; I fear most obvious good names are already taken.
