The rationale for not allowing changes to an object's links is to prevent spam. That's fine when you're adding links to a file, but is there any harm in adding or removing things from groups that you're an admin of? You can only 'spam' it into groups you have the right permissions for. There are things already submitted I don't want in Source Devs, and there are also things I do want in it that currently aren't. |

Removing things is a fair comment. You're the group leader, if an article is irrelevant, then you should be able to remove it, Adding an article should also be possible, with the author's consent. Don't want any "Add Everything!!" groups around, of course |

I don't think it's worth adding the potentially impossible hoop of an author's consent just for that. Crap groups will just get ignored. |

Perhaps, but author's wishes should always be considered - a user may not want his or her material posted in another group. There needs to be a way to respect that wish. |

A non-default checkbox. perhaps. |

Took me a while to work out what you were on about, but I've got it now. The problems, as have been mentioned, are author's consent and cross-link spam. Author's consent is technically possible (And quite easy to do), but potentially a waste of time given the spam it would invite if one good article is linked to every group out there. A good tutorial on how to manage a mod could feasibly end up explicitly linked to all the big development groups even though it's not specifically related to them, instead of letting the system work out where it should be displayed. I do however agree that group/mod/addon/etc owners should be able to unlink stuff which is linked to their profile - I'll make a note of this and see what we can do. |
