I was wondering what the developers think of this idea: A summer of code project for next year. There will be three "teams" that will strive to accomplish a task handed to them. The course would run from mid may to mid august. The two teams with the lesser knowledge of programming would be assisted to help them learn the code to make this a learning experience. Tasks of teams: Team B) Create a 3D platformer for PC (possibly PS3 also) inspired by the original PSX classic 3D platformers (Crash, Spyro, etc...) in UDK. Team C) This team will be tasked with making a game oriented programming language running in Java or C++. They will be focused on making the games run smooth and making it the next gen language that everyone will be using in the future. Now, please by all means tell me all your thoughts on this idea. I could get all the models, textures, animations, music, etc for Team B done in time for the rest of the game to be constructed, as well with everything but the coding done with Team A. I realize that I could be trying to fly to high in the sky, so I would like to be shot down before I fall and suffer a worse pain. I have been learning to code in Javascript, Python, Java, C++, Android Java, MySQL, PHP, and unrealscript before you ask me if I have learned to code. I would like all of you to be candor and please do not troll this forum. If you think it is a great idea and you would love to join then state it, if you think it is a piece of shit then state it and constructively criticize so I may either scrap this project or fix it to become more reasonable. |
